I am so bummed.  I found out last Wednesday that, although I had six follicles (I've never had more than two), no IVF for me because my estradiol level was too low.  I am such a basket case right now, I made them recheck on Thursday.  I was up to eight follicles, but they still said we had to convert to an IUI because the bloodwork showed I had one, maybe two, mature eggs.  Grrrrrr!  So we did the IUI on Saturday, and I told them I think I want to quit.  Hubby had great numbers and motility, but I had no ovulation pain (which I always get).  I'm thinking this time is a bust and I don't know that I can keep doing this over and over.  I'm so disappointed every time.  I should know on the 30th or 31st if it didn't work....again.

Okay, sorry for that rant.  I really hope that the rest of you are doing well.  These message boards are the only thing keeping me sane right now, and it feels good to be cheering for everyone else.  Baby dust to all.

Oops.  One more thing.  To respond to Heather5, my RE always does ICSI and assisted hatching unless someone has a moral or religious objection to those procedures.  My hubby and I have no objections, and giving his low morphology and motility numbers, we can use the help.

I started my stim meds yesterday (375 IUI of Menopur and 375 IUI of Follistim, w/ baby asprin and estrace).  This is my first IVF cycle and I'm pretty nervous.  I am 30, and a "poor responder" with only one ovary to work with.  I'm so glad to have company on this journey.

Did anyone have symtoms, after they did their IVF, I've been bloated and I am drinking tons of water!  I have mild cramping every once in a while and some sharp pains that last about 10 seconds?  I go for my blood test next Wed!  Yippy!  Anybody else had any symptoms like these?

I am going for my lap/hysteroscopy tomorrow. My RE has had me on lupron for two months for the endo. SInce lupron is one of the meds you use, he says he isnt going to wait for my lupron to wear off and we will get started 2 weeks after the lap. I cant wait although sometimes as it gets closer and closer I start getting nervous. Goof luck to all of us!

This will be my first IVF, too, so I don't know all the details yet, but you would usually start lupron a week or more before you start the stims. Then once the ovaries are fully suppressed, you would start taking the FSH injectables to develop the follicles. I think most women are on the FSH meds for about 7-12 days, but I'm sure that can differ, depending on how a person responds to the meds. Best of luck to you!

Had 2nd hysteroscopy and lap surgery a few weeks ago.  Going to RE for post-op appt. and set agenda for first IVF cycle.  RE said that I should be ready to go for IVF cycle in March. I am currently regulated on birth control (on week 4).  Can anyone tell me when you typically start IVF meds in your cycle?  Very anxious and trying to determine just when we will start meds in March before my appt. next Mon. Also looking to know approx. how long you're on the meds until they transfer the embryos.
Any info. would be great. TY :)

I think it makes sense doing ICSI in your case. That way they can single out some of the strongest of the 6% and make sure they're the ones fertilizing the egg.

My DH's last SA in January was normal, but the reason I asked about ICSI, is that when I got the paperwork from one of the nurses, she said it's common to do ICSI in patents over a certain age...me being in that age range...but my RE had previously suggested natural fertilization (if it can be referred to as "natural"...LOL!). So I was just curious what other RE's were doing.

BUT, we did have one IUI cycle cancelled last year due to low count. My RE said it was probably just a random, one-time thing....but should that happen again the day of the retrieval, we'll have to do ICSI, too.

we are doing ICSI. My DH has poor morphology according to his semen analysis. It was 6% my RE just told me today we would do ICSI. Any thoughts?

Me too :-) I'll be starting lupron after ovulation is confirmed (no b/c pills), on March 10. Then once I get my period, I'll start follistim and menopur (I think). It will be my first IVF too! I'm very excited, but also pretty nervous!

Are any of you doing ICSI? I don't think we are, but was wondering what other RE's protocols were on that.

SSBD to everyone!
