IUI New to this whole thing...what to expect???
Ladies. I just came from my doc and she went over all of the tests that they have run in the last month and because of a few factors clomid is just not an option. I have to do IUI...I was just wondering what exactly takes place in this procedure and I know that there is a 15%-20% success rate. Has anyone here gotten pregnant with a sticky bean on their first try of IUI? It is going to cost $500 each round that we do. Any advice would be appreciated!
I got pregnant my 1st IUI 3 years ago with only trigger shots... not clomid or anything, but sadly m/c due to low hormones as well as a near fatal car accident. I just did my 2nd IUI on the 26th. 4dpiui now in the 2ww.!! wish me luck! this time with 100mg clomid started on day 3 for 5 days, and a trigger shot*which i think i did wrong.... * hope this one works 1st time as well!
Yeah I am going to be taking injections, orvidel and bcp pills. I am hoping that i am one of the lucky ones and it will take on the first try!
Well, I'll just add that IUI using drugs is pretty straight forward too - really. I took injectables, and they are really fine to take - I didn't even get any side-effects. If you're on the tablet form, that will be easier still.

I am doing my IUI with drugs because my right ovary is slightly pcos so I am hoping that the first time will do it. And besides, if I do get preggo the baby would be due around my dh's 28th birthday and this will be his first child and I am scared but excited too!
You will be fine!!!!! I got pregnant first pop with my son, using IUI - totally natural - no drugs. It is possible. Things got more complicated with my daughter. I had two unsuccessful natural IUIs, due to the fact I was having premature LH surges, meaning my egg was ready before my uterus was. Anyway, I used drugs for my next IUI, and hey presto, got pregnant. Am now trying for third child with IUI.
IUI is very straight forward if you're not using drugs - just get bloods done, to see when you are to ovulate, then the quick and easy procedure is done. It's just like a cervical smear. After about 4 or 5 cycles, the success rate actually goes down, so your RE shouldn't really let you do more than this many cycles. I think normally the cumulative pregnancy rate after around 5 cycles of natural IUI is about 60%.

I am not sure of all of the meds that I am going to need. I am on cd 18 right now and my doc wants me to wait until cd 28 to give me provera (just in case) to induce my period and then when that is all said and done then she will give me the prescriptions that I need. I know that I will need other meds but I am not sure what yet. My husbands SA came back today also and he is way above average so hopefully I will end up with at least one (two if we are lucky) I really hope it works on the first try but we are fortunate enough to have the military pay for most of it (all we have to pay is $500.00). I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No...not for me. But I needed to do IUI with injectibles and last summer I did three iui with Clomid. We are going to do IUI this weekend while follistim injections... I hope you get pregnant your very first time!!!!
Aren't they doing anytype of fertility drugs first followed by hgh shot 24 to 30 hrs. before the iui?
Positive thinking is all i can do right now. I was kind of shocked and thought I would be able to do clomid but it just isnt an option... Has IUI ever worked for anyone on the first try?

My DH is the military and it includes all of it! My doctor thinks that Ivf is a little too much but a few times of unsuccessful IUI and we'll talk about IVF. I really hope that it doesn't come to that but if it does then we will go from there. Thank you!
That's a wonderful price if that price includes all the sonograms, washing of the sperm, meds and finally the iui. This was done 14 times to my daughter by 2 different doctors and nothing, ivf was done iui can be great but please look into ivf and save yourself tons and i do mean thousands of dollars. Either way that you go, honestly wishing you the best of luck.
