IUI QUESTION

hello, i am 38 years old and i have been trying to get preg for a long while.. i was wondering if anyone out there has used the option of an IUI and has gotten preg... my dr suggested it and told me it like a 50/50 chance that it is a higher % as if i had sex the natural way... any experience, advise or input will be helpful....

I recently took 150mgs of clomid and was inseminated a little over 2 weeks ago. The process did not work for me since no pregnancy resulted. This was the 1st time I was inseminated. Anyway the only problem I have is low prodestron, so during the insemination I was taken 200mgs of prodestron & 2mgs of estrogen. Only one mature egg was released. Being on clomid only increases your odds by 20%. I was told that because I am older some eggs maybe be defective while others are good. However it is a crap shoot in having eggs released. I am going to begin taking the fertility shots next week which will increase my odds of having many eggs produced at once. It's 70% that twins will developed & a 10% chance of triplets. I am 36 and was told that there is only about a 20% chance of getting pregnant with an IUI cycle versus 8% for normal couples trying naturally.  I am just gonna take the odds and run with it.  I am perfectly healthy in all testing (I have had it all) and my husband has a very high sperm count along with great motility. I have never been pregnant and not taken birth control since I was about 23.   I am on day 9 of my first IUI cycle.  Let me break it down for you:

6/15-1st cycle day
6/16-US (23 follicles)
6/17-6/21 50mg clomid day 3-7
6/23-follistim injection 150 mcq
6/26-ultrasound and Estrogen level (see if eggs and follies are ready to go) possible Ovidrel inj that night
Next would be 2 inseminations (back to back)
