Here is their official website you can surf around on It is very informative actually. Follistim is used under the care of your RE. You will have u/s done every few days and they tell you how much to use each night. When your are good to go, they will have you inject a trigger shot to make you ovulate and within (72 hours?) they do IUI. It is pretty successful compared to just using clomid, but then again it depends on your circumstances.

Hope that helps.
No it was only last year at this time..and was on the pill for over 15 years went off to get prego and within 4 months it happened....But was a blighted ovum -- my thoughts were because of his infertility.. had to have a d/c my body did not want to get rid of it but it did happen all by itself we had no help. But have heard in the past when you go off the pill you are very fertile? Please Tell me more about the follistim injections.
BFP means Big Fat Positive (your home Preg Test (PT)! Were you much younger the first time you got preg.? Sometimes age does have a lot to do with it. Of course there is a chance of getting prego especially since your body already has gone through it all once and knows what is happening when it happens. My body will be totally shocked when they put the 2 embies in... it won't know what is happening! SBD to you (sticky baby dust) ~so the embies stick and imbed. 8-)
If it doesn't work, you can always try follistim injections for the next IUI rather than have to deal with IVF.
I understand not wanting to take it that far.... it has been a difficult journey. Actually quite exhausting!
What is BFP? I do think we have some advantage that we got prego before am I right with no help? Even with the low sperm count? He has made many many life changes since April (diagnosed dm type 1) Hardly ever uses caffine and does not drink. I know that IVF would be "the best" but not willing to go that far.. So hopefully this would be successful...at least that is what the Dr and we are hoping for.
Well, I do know it takes something like 72 days to generate new sperm. My doctors have told my DH no alcohol or caffeine. He ended up having way better motility rate on his next sample (his count was not a problem) . Are you seeing an RE or obgyn? I think your chances with IVF would be better with his sperm problem since they choose the best sperm to fertilize your egg. Of course it is the most costly. Maybe if he makes some lifestyle changes (if he hasn't already) it may help his "guys" thus leading to a BFP using IUI. Good luck... Keep us posted!
