blighted ovum

dear friends,
i wish all of you the blessings of God.i concieved through my firs ivf with a good number of hcg-1139 and progesterone level of 80ng/ml,we were so happy when we got the result but at 7.3 week ultrasound showed no fetal pole or yolk sac only gestational sac.my doctor said i had blighted ovum and should come for a d and c,i have done that on monday with so much pain and grieve,she collected the product of conception for hpv screening,karyotype and koch test.my prayers is that everything should turn out fine because i have had more that i can bear temptation in my marriage and will not want to loose my dh.i did koch test from my laparascopic histopathology and they said there is no indication of genital tb,please does the result change?what happens if there is chromosomal abnormality of the embryo which will affect the frozen embryo?somebody should please talk to me because i am going nut.

You can definitely have  b/o when conceived via IVF - the only way they can tell if there's a definite chromosonal abnormality is through a procedure called PGD (can't remember what all of the letters stand for but it's very expensive).

Sorry for your loss - chances are that this is a fluke - a blighted ovum is very common during the 1st trimester.  I would think that there's a high chance that the frozen embryo(s) won't have this problem - jen

I'm so sorry for your b/o i had one last year and also my beta was great.But i conceved normally how come you can have one with ivf? The select the embryos with this procedure.Again i'm sorry and for your question you should ask them to your doctor.Take care

I am so sorry for your loss.....I as well found out I had a blighted ovum pregnancy in April and also had a D and C.  The previous year I delivered a still born and went for a genetic Dr as well.  Everything was fine, it was just a fluke.  Unfortunatley it can be pretty common to experience this, but they say the chances of it happening again are slim to none.  You'll get alot of support from many others in this forum and don't give up!  My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
