IVF Insurance Appeal - Success Anyone?

I just found out that my insurance will not cover any future IVF cycles.  It was a crushing blow to dh and myself.  We were under the impression that we had 6 IVF cycles covered under our supplemental Massachusetts insurance plan we had purchased, in addition to the 4 we did with an out of state insurance plan (my current employers plan).  We have only used 2 cycles with our new insurance, but they counted the 4 we did previously and they denied our 7th cycle.  I guess 6 is the cut off, no matter what insurance you’ve had or where you may have lived.  I am still in shock and disbelief that we just did our last cycle unknowingly.  Had we been aware of that, we would have dedicated our last cycle to a donor cycle.

I was told that we could appeal the ruling, which we will certainly be doing.  My doctor will be sending me a dictation to enclose with my appeal paperwork I submit, recommending that they approve me for a donor cycle.  Has anyone ever been in this situation and had success changing the ruling?  Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Well at least your lucky enough to get ivf-coverage I'm guessing you dont live in ohio? I live in ohio and they wont pay for not even 1 treatment I just think its so unfair that they would do that : ( its so depressing because you want to try another step in your cycle but thers no way you can possibly afford it without help, it just makes me mad to even know that I will never have this option of getting ivf : (  : (

Hi,
My story is a little different, but here it goes.
I was told by my insurance co. that IVF was not covered, but that all meds were.  Long story short, I had several conformations by customer service reps from the company that we would be reimbursed so we proceed with IVF drugs.  Then in the middle of the cycle they denied coverage for $10,000 worth of drugs.  They misinformed me - I wrote letters ( including to the CEO of the company ), and made many angry phone calls and it was quite an effort on my part, but we eventually were reimbursed on appeal.
Anything is worth a try.
Good luck.
