Body temps during the day???

so, I have another stupid, body-temperature obsessed question - if I was pregnant, wouldn't my body temp stay up during the day, too?  I have actually taken it and had it below the coverline - wouldn't that be a dead giveaway that i am not pregnant this cycle?

P.S. I am convinced that there is in fact a way to tell if you are NOT pregnant earlier than just AF showing (not saying that you can confirm a pregnancy, but I do think that you can confirm a NON-pregnancy!

Thanks for any help or input!!

P.S my cycle is late, but I also have an irregular period.  Will I be able to get pregnant???

A rise in temps usually happens 1-2 days after you ovulated, and it normally stays high until AF comes. If AF doesn't come and temps continue to stay high, that is a sign you are pregnant. 98.1 is a pretty normal temps for the luteal phase (the 2 weeks after ov).

I am not sure if any of the other ladies are still on here since the post is old (from 2008), but I hope my answer helps. Good luck!

Hi Ladies! It seems ya'll are asking the same questions I am looking for answers to! I just started charting my BBT, and my temps haven't been below the 98.1 mark in 8 days. I don't think I am still ovulating, but I was wondering if anyone had any reasons why my temp is so high? One day is was 98.6 and today 98.4. I did take it a couple times during the day "just for fun" and it is still always in the 98's. I don't know a whole lot about the BBT charting, so anything ya'll tell me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! :)

Wow this site is so great.  I am glad to know that if your temp drops during the day you can still be preggo.  I havent been checking my bbt but I am glad to hear this info.  So really temps taken throughout the day dont really signify anything it's only the bbt that matters right??!!!

i think your chart looks great! and yes you could still be pregnant with a lower temp during the day, it is the morning temp that you chart that matters. good luck!!!!

I have a chart on FF - here it is, if it helps!  My question is about temping during the day "for the fun of it" - if it falls below the coverline during the day, it is still possible to be pregnant?

Hi,
have you gone to fertilityfriend that whole site is for bbt charting.
I don't think your daily temps matter, i charted for months and months and the month i got pregnant my morning temp stayed up above the cover line for like 16 days so i took a test. but  the reason you take it as soon as you wake up, before moving, is because your temperature changes all day long depending on what you are doing. don't give up yet this month! i also had a temp dip in the middle of my second phase.
when you say your temps are all over does that mean even when you take it first thing  when you wake up roughly the same time everyday? sorry, not sure how much you know.... like i said i did it for a long time. i showed my Dr the sheets and that is why i was put on clomid!

My temps are really all over the place, but I still have to think that if they are falling below the coverline during the day, then I must not be pregnant!  I wish there was a site for temp-taking obsessive folks like me so I could get proof of my theories -- LOL :P!!

Any one else have any thoughts??

I just posted a similar question just before I read this.  So you can read any responses to my ?? and I can with yours.  By the way do you have a theory on how you can tell if you are NOT preggo b 4 AF comes??  If we can get a definite answer to the temp ??? that may be one way to tell.  My temp in the evening was 98.6 abut 5 days ago, then 3 days ago around same time was only 97.4 and today this afternoon it is 98.6 again???  I am on CD 28 so I dont know what the HECK that means??
Good luck to you and I hope we can get some of the great input these wonderful ladies have.

Not a stupid question at all, I have thought about that too.   I know that when I was pregnant last time (which didnt last long) my temps stayed in the high 98's during the day not really higher than normal (non-preggo).   And when I was sleeping they were in the low 98's.  So, the difference for me between sleeping and awake temps was only a few tenths of a degree.  Dont rule yourself out of the game yet, hang in there, I'm right there with ya!
