Increasing Clomid

I'm 24 and I have always had an irregular period.  Mostly getting my period about two or three times a year and in most cases having to use Provera just to get it.  I;ve been like this all my life so no one seems to think anything of my lack of period.  My husband and I tried the all natural way trying to get pregnant for a year with no luck.  Last month I started taking Clomid.  I took 5 days of Provera to bring on my period then on days 3-5 of my cycle I took 50mg of clomid.  On CD 10 i started ovulation testing everyday.  The lines never showed that I ovulated but everyday they seemed to be getting darker and darker.  On day 21 I got blood work done and it showed that my progestrone level was 1.5.  Which showed that I did not ovulate right?  Does anyone know that if I do increase my dosage to 100mg would I even have a greater chance of ovulating then on 50mg?  I've heard somewhere that if 50mg doesn't work then most likely clomid will not work.  Is that true or is there hope for me yet?

Hi Amber,
While reading your post, I keep surprising how similar our situations!!
I too always thought I will have some problems to get preggo since no regular periods.
I believe that if you are not obese and don't have facial hair, then it is called little bit of PCOS. If you are overweight and have other symptoms, then it is just PCOS.
I am 5'2'' and I weigh 105, so I am not overweight. I also have little of PCOS. I believe if you have irregular periods and no O, then you have PCOS.

I read somewhere that people with PCOS have a greater chance of m/c but believe me, so many people have it , its not even funny. I just hope that after first m/c, the chances are lower to get a second one!

Yes, if your Clomid dosage wouldnt work and you hit 150 mg and it still wouldn't work, your RE will give you injectables whcih is a higher dosage to get your O. So far, I only had one cycle of Clomid 150mg and it worked for me. After my m/c, I am waiting for my HCG level to go down to 0, then have AF ( or be induced with provera) and then hopefully, the next cycle to go back on provera, clomid and IUI. That 's my story.
Again, feel free to ask questions and you can always send me personal message!
Take care!'

Hi!  Thank you for your response... I was told they think I have a little bit of PCOS (have no idea what having a little bit means) , but all of my bloodwork that they took to check me out came back fine, so i actually have no idea if i really do have PCOS.. Strange as that may sound...

I'm so sorry to hear about your m/c I hope that you are doing ok...  I had no idea people like us are going to have greater chances of m/c...

Are you still using clomid?  Are there any steps after clomid incase this doesn't work?

I'm sorry to be asking so many questions.. I'm new to all of this since I've just started going to the fertility specialist 3 months ago.... I always thought I would have some problems getting pregnant since i never get my period, but i had no idea.. It's a stressful and disheartening thing to go through..

Thanks again for your response!

Hi , I have EXACT same story as you, also 24 , also irregular period, and am diagnosted with PCOS (Im sure you are too).
So, I also used Clomid 50 and even 100 and no O occured. (btw, always induced with Provera, like you).
ONLY Clomid 150 made me Ovulate and I developed 1 mature follicle, had IUI and actually got pregnant. Unfortunately, I miscarred in 7.5 weeks of pregnancy ( I read that people like us have a greater chance to m/c)...
Anyway, to answer your question, YES , most definately, increasing Clomid dosage would increase your chance to O !!!
Please feel free to ask quesitons, the best way is to email me!
Take care!
Anya.
