Is Endo Biopsy required before IUI or IVF?

Hi LADIES... We have been TTC FOR 1.5 months now, with 1 mc in the first month of ttc and after that 6 rnds of clomid and still no pregnancy... we are on our own since last 3 cycles and when we met our Gyno she ordered for HSG and Endo Biopsy for me and SA for DH...

SA for DH has come out fine and now its my turn for the test... But Now i have some doubts...

1. Is endo Biopsy mandatory before the doc proceeds with IUI or IVF? I guess thats wht my doc wants to suggest us after the tests...

2. What exactly do the doctors want to know through the endo biopsy? as i do BBt And i dont have a LP Defect.. so i m confused what exactly my doc wants to know through this biopsy

Please some one shed some light on this.. this is driving me crazy.........

Of course I read it!  I read it as soon as you gave it to me!  : )   I want to be as educated as possible.  I went into this blindly, not knowing what the heck I was doing or looking for.... Not anymore!  after spending thousands of $$'s and getting nowhere... I feel I must be more proactive!!!! : )  I want my Baby(ies)!! : )

thanks dear

i have read it and it really makes sense.
i was always thinking of something like this .
but the problem is my gyn is not very cooperative and my med insurance does not cover ivf......so i'll have to talk to some private gyn about this.....but another problem is when you go to some private practitioner he is only looking for his money and its hard to decide whether you really need more considerations  or they are just saying it for getting more money.....im so confused ......and hoping to meet a sincere RE.

Oh wow you read it!!!

The Endometrium biopsy took the cobwebb's of my un-used lining...that's for sure!!!(that sounded gross :)   The more you look into it including the actually research from Dr. Dekel in Isreal the more it makes sense.

Endo Biopsy is a 5 min job with the pain lasting for the same time,no other pain after that..the whole process just sounds scary ..
I would suggest you to go ahead with it...just trust ur RE,the rest is ur call, all d best!!

I have had the HSG test.  From my personal experience, it wasn't bad at all.  It's like a pap smear except that put fluid into your tubes and uterus and that sometimes causes cramping like period cramps but I didn't have any.  It lasted 10 minutes or less and it was over.
I have not had an endometrial biopsy, but did have surgery for endometriosis.  I do know someone who had that procedure done, and I think it's a little painful, but not as extensive as doing a surgery.
This way you will have some answers to see if there is anything they can do to help you get pregnant.
I would do whatever they asked of you,... but that's just my thought. Good LUck!

monahema....hmm.. that was some information.... i m still in two minds if i should get the endo biopsy done or done.. actually i am scared because i have heard that its very very painful and me and DH are getting quiet worried abt it......

mhv- thanks for the link... its very interesting .... i m goning ask the doc when i meet her for HSG this week, as to what her actual plans are.. she only mentioned abt the test and nothing abt whats next after that.. and if she suggests IVF then i would definitely get it done...

But is the test very painful? there is so much on the net thats scared me lol.......
Any one would like to share their experience?

Hi,

My RE believes that it is v imp to do Endo biopsy before proceeding for any Fertility procedures/treatments.Basically this test detects TB in uterus.Incase it comes positive which is v common(I ve gone thru it myself),she will put you on 6 months course of ATT(which is another tedius process,i used to puke every morn).

It is always better to rule out all possible reasons which could affect fertilization. The Uterus TB may or may not directly affect infertility but it should be cured before u proceed for IUI/IVF.

My close friend went thru 3 failed IUI's and then swithched to my RE.She was detected Endo TB and was prescribed ATT. In her 4th month of the course she concieved naturally. She was 35 then.

In my case its Unexplained infertility TTC 4 yrs,PCOD,went thru 2 failed IUI's,1st IVF BFP but mc in 6 weeks, so the fact of the matter is that we are mere mortals, the controller is GOD,we can just try our level best, the rest is totaly upto HIM.So have faith in HIM and ur RE and u will be BFP in no time..

Hope this helps,SSBD to u
