Methotrexate

I had an ectopic pregnancy about a month ago.  I was given Methotrexate.  My levels have been checked, they are going down.  How long until I'm out of the clear?  My doctor is horrible.  She told me I should expect bleeding like a heavy period.  I've been bleeding heavily for a week.  When is this going to be over??

I agree with amandamae1126.  Make sure your doctor continues to take you HCG levels. I had an eptopic pregnancy in July 09, a MC in October 09, and another eptopic pregnancy in November 09.  My doctor stop taking my HCG levels in October and when I started to cramp in November I thought I was having my period.  Come to find out it was another eptopic pregnancy.  I was not luckly in either eptopic.  I lost my left tube in July and Right in November.  It is a very tough thing to go through.  If crying your way out helps then do it.  I can say that we went through IVF in March of 2010 and we are exspecting a baby boy on November 30, 2010.  Can't wait to meet this little guy after the year we went through.

I bled for almost 6 weeks after the shot. It was heavy at first, but then it got pretty light. Your doctor should be checking your hcg levels still. I had my levels checked at one week after the shot and then three days after that. They need to see a significant decrease in that short time. Then, about every 2 weeks you should be checked until your levels reach 5 or below. If you are wanting to ttc again soon, your dr should prescribe you a high dose of folic acid. You should be avoiding eating folic acid while waiting for the metho shot to fully work. The shot robs your body of folic acid, the vitamin needed to assist with cell reproduction.

For me, I bled for nearly 6 weeks all together, had a week off, then started my period. It's a tough thing to go through. All sorts of emotions. I chose to cry it out, have the hsg test, stop fertility meds, and try again. Three months after the ectopic I did conceive again. I am now a bit over 8 weeks along and doing great (if you think morning sickness every day is great) LOL!  It might feel like the end of the world now, but it's not. Grieve and get it out, then pick yourself up and start feeling better. It can and will happen. :) And prayer can take you far on this journey too.

If you ever need to talk, just send me a message! :)

It will soon on its own. You need to let it do its course to avoid future damage.. I use to have hot baths and bicarb.Try sleep alot:) it shouldn't be more than 3 weeks if it is go and get checked out. Your body is having a period as well so you won't have another one for aprox 28 days depending on your cycle.

It will soon. But allow your self to go though the emotions. Be strong but don't be afraid to cry. It heals the soul. I will be thinking of u and soon u will feel better. Everyday is one step to been healed

Is there anything I can do to lighten up the bleeding?  Whats the longest this could last for?  Is this my period? Or is this my body flushing everything out.  I'm confused here.  Told ya, my doctor *****.
