Ovulation? yes or no

Hi. I had my tubes untied after marrying the love of my life almost 1 and 1/2 years ago. The doctor stated that he did a neofimbrioplasty because my fimbria wasn't functioning properly since the tubal ligation. My husband and I have been to the same client, but with different doctors. I have had an HSG done, along with other blood tests to confirm whether I was ovulating and had a reasonable amount of egg supply left. According to the first doctor, he told me that all I needed to do was go home and enjoy intercourse. He asked me to return in three months, if I didn't conceive. I did. He stated that he could not find anything wrong and could charge me for blood tests but my age didn't give him reason to believe that there was anything wrong.
I decided to see another doctor in the same office to gain his opinion. He performed the tests and even performed 2 IUI's with clomid and injections. One sonogram showed that there were 14 follicles, yet I did not conceive. I was shocked. Again we tried and nothing. Finally, I sought the last doctor in this client because the other doctor who had performed the IUI's stated that if we didn't conceive the next round that he would refer us to another doctor and recommend IVF.
We decided to see the last doctor to see if he would allow me to try clomid a little longer. He stated that he saw a fibroid and although it didn't appear to be in a place to prevent conception, he suggested removing it. After this surgery, blood clots when to my lungs according to the doctor in the hospital. I attempted to get up from the hospital bed and felt heaviness in my chest. The next thing I knew, the hospital staff were wheeling me to the x-ray department and then to the radiology department for a CAT scan ( I believe. All I know is that I was injected with something that burned very bad upon entrance.). The next thing I knew is that I was told that I had PE. I was placed on blood thinners which caused blood clots to go to the surgery site. This actually happened twice before they decided that I needed to come off of the blood thinners.
After the site healed, I was told to return to the office in six months if I hadn't conceived. I didn't wait six months, rather almost four months. I asked if I was ovulating and what medications or treatments could we try. I was told that they could not locate my blood work to determine if I was ovulating and that there was nothing else that he could do unless I desired to try several IUI's again.
I explained that all I wanted to know is if I was ovulating and if indeed my tubes were open. He stated that they were and that the fimbria must be working properly or else there would have been a build up on the screen that would have shown a fimbria not functioning. I explained that I had tried to do BBT temps during the morning but never saw a rise in my temps. I explained that I do go to the restroom 3 times a night at least and that I get maybe five to six hours of sleep a night unless it is the weekend. He stated that I should use OPK to find out if I am ovulating. I have been testing three days after my cycles which started on the late evening 9th of this month and ended on the early morning of the 16th. I check the OPK the past three days and nothing. I have a period every month, usually 24-25 days apart. I haven't noticed any changes in my cycles, other than when I was taking adipex for three months it was 26 days long. I have lost weight in efforts to conceive. I am 38 years old and 5"10 at 228 lbs. My mother had her last child at age 38 if this makes a difference.
I would like to know if you have any recommendations for me. My husband doesn't have any children and desperately wants at least one of his own. We don't make a lot of money to afford an IVF and we don't have any local RE's within our area. The closest doctor would be three hours away.. By this information, are you able to tell if I am ovulating. Thank you so much for your assistance..

There are many people who do 3,4,5,6 IUI's & then sometimes they still don't work.  I know you said you don't have money but I would suggest IVF otherwise keep trying naturally or find another RE.  If your OPK is not lighting up it means you are not ovulating or you may be just doing it on the wrong day.  Best Wishes to you!!

Well, I don't have PCOS. The doctor said my ovularies look normal and the test for the FSH was conducted where one doctor stated that there was no sign that showed that I wasn't ovulating. He stated not to worry about the BBT that it wasn't important. Occuring to the one web site I was reading, Fertility Friend,it stated that I should have at least seven hours of sleep in order to gain an accurate reading. Some of my computer friend's looked at it and stated that they saw nothing wrong. However, I was upset that I have paid so much into this journey and for the doctor not to tell me whether I was ovulating. Metformin was prescribed to prevent diabetes, since I would have night cravings and assist with weight loss. Nevertheless, I do appreciate your assistance.

And metaformin is usually given to women that have PCOS.  Did the nurse mention that they thougth you might have this? There is a PCOS forum on here, too.

A book you may want to read is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health" by Toni Weschler, if you haven't read it yet.

I found her book to be insightful, minus the like/dislike she has for white-coat medicince.

You can have a +opk and not really ov. OPK kits test for the LH surge but don't acutally tell you if you acutally ov. That was the case for me.  By charting, I found that I wasn't ov even though the opk  were + at times!  I have PCOS and I was having annovulatory bleeding, which is not a true period.  I would still bleed but my uternine lining wasn't shedding.

I am not saying this is what is going on with you but if you aren't seeing a drop and then a spike while charting it may be that you are not ov.  However, not enough sleep can affect your bbt.  You need, I think, atleast 3 hours of sleep before taking your bbt. Sleep disturbances can affect it and also if you take it different times (with more than an hour variation.)  sorry if you already know this, just wanted to make sure I covered some things.

P.S. I am currently taking metformin because a nurse prescribed it to assist in conception during my weighloss program. She stated that if I wasn't ovulating that it would cause me to ovulate and prevent diabetes.
