There are many people who do 3,4,5,6 IUI's & then sometimes they still don't work. I know you said you don't have money but I would suggest IVF otherwise keep trying naturally or find another RE. If your OPK is not lighting up it means you are not ovulating or you may be just doing it on the wrong day. Best Wishes to you!!
Well, I don't have PCOS. The doctor said my ovularies look normal and the test for the FSH was conducted where one doctor stated that there was no sign that showed that I wasn't ovulating. He stated not to worry about the BBT that it wasn't important. Occuring to the one web site I was reading, Fertility Friend,it stated that I should have at least seven hours of sleep in order to gain an accurate reading. Some of my computer friend's looked at it and stated that they saw nothing wrong. However, I was upset that I have paid so much into this journey and for the doctor not to tell me whether I was ovulating. Metformin was prescribed to prevent diabetes, since I would have night cravings and assist with weight loss. Nevertheless, I do appreciate your assistance.
And metaformin is usually given to women that have PCOS. Did the nurse mention that they thougth you might have this? There is a PCOS forum on here, too.
A book you may want to read is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health" by Toni Weschler, if you haven't read it yet.
I found her book to be insightful, minus the like/dislike she has for white-coat medicince.
You can have a +opk and not really ov. OPK kits test for the LH surge but don't acutally tell you if you acutally ov. That was the case for me. By charting, I found that I wasn't ov even though the opk were + at times! I have PCOS and I was having annovulatory bleeding, which is not a true period. I would still bleed but my uternine lining wasn't shedding.
I am not saying this is what is going on with you but if you aren't seeing a drop and then a spike while charting it may be that you are not ov. However, not enough sleep can affect your bbt. You need, I think, atleast 3 hours of sleep before taking your bbt. Sleep disturbances can affect it and also if you take it different times (with more than an hour variation.) sorry if you already know this, just wanted to make sure I covered some things.
P.S. I am currently taking metformin because a nurse prescribed it to assist in conception during my weighloss program. She stated that if I wasn't ovulating that it would cause me to ovulate and prevent diabetes.
