New IUI'er and have questions on hCG, cysts, etc

Hi all. I've been gone from medhelp for a really long time hoping to trick myself into not focusing on infertility and thus not stressing. Anyhow, this is our first month of actual treatment, dh had an SA and results were that he's a little sluggish and has poor swim-up, so we are starting IUI's. I took clomid 50 mg days 5-9 and had a ton of ultrasounds last week to keep checking everything, then trigger shot of hCG and the next day (Tuesday the 24th) an IUI. There were 5 mature follicles and at least 2 had released when the dr checked just before doing the IUI, he said the other 3 still looked like they were ready to release. Anyhow, does all this sound typical with your treatments?  I'm having a progesterone test Wednesday, which will be 8 dpiui, because my luteal phase has only been about 10 days long typically. The dr was a little concerned with one follicle potentially being a cyst and he'll check that before starting next month's treatment if we get a bfn. Do any of you know what will happen if the cyst is still there? Will I likely have to go on bc? Anyhow, does all this sound typical with your treatments?

Thanks so much for the info!! I'm feeling more hopeful now, that's good.
The dr did the IUI about 30 hours after the trigger shot, and just did an ultrasound to check before doing the IUI and that's when he saw that two had already released. It was cycle day 18 which is when I've usually ovulated on my own, so its possible that they released on their own too.
Yes, my dr said I responded well, he called me an over-achiever and said that ovarian function is good. I think dh's slowness may be the obstacle, so we'll see.
SSBD to all! May this be our month.

Hi izzys_mom! Good to hear from you! You definitely responded very well to clomid! Five mature follicles!!! That's great! As for only two having released at your ultrasound, that does not mean the others won't. Once ovulation starts, the follicles usually get released within a 24-hour time period. If one turns into a cyst, it i usually absorbed back into your body. I don't think you need to get on b/c pills, though, but if it's still there by the time you start a new cycle (which hopefully you won't :-), then they probably don't want to do another medicated cycle until it resolves. I believe the reason for this is to make sure the medication doesn't cause a possible cyst to enlarge. Best of luck this month!!!

Hi there

I am going to just let you know about the bit that I know about. Once I trigger, I have my insemination 24 hours after. I have never had eggs release and then do the insemination. I have never heard of doctors allowing that to happen but I could be wrong.
