Ovulation and IUI

Hello. My question is that if you don't ovulate on your own....that means you don't produce and egg right? So, then I wouldn't be a candidate for IUI? I am confused and my RE didn't really make me feel comfortable enough to ask him such a stupid question.

If you are not ovualting on your own, you dr can proscribe mediation to stimulate follicle development.  Once the follicles have reached a mature size he can give you another medication to make your body release the eggs (ovulation).

I didn't care for my RE either, but he got be pg twice.. If I ever needed an RE again, I would go right back to him. Even tho you don't feel comfortable asking the questions.. just go ahead and ask.. it will get easier.

best of luck..

You should ask the "stupid" question becuase if you are worried about then it isn't stupid. I dont' have a period on my own but once every 9 months. So, no ovulation then I think it's safe to assume. My fertility doctor put me on meds. to force me to ovulate. This was after I had various other tests to ensure that my tubes weren't blocked, etc... I just asked point blank what are you going to do to make me ovulate? He didn't think I was stupid at all. You owe it to yourself to ask. Hang in there. It'll get easier. Best of luck to you!!!!!
