Post transfer tips/suggestions

Hi ladies,

I am going in for day 5 transfer on Friday (10/15/10) and was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions on what to do post transfer.  This is my second round ivf this fall, the first was cancelled because of OHSS so I'm sure what to expect after the transfer.  How long should you rest for? Sex after transfer? How will I feel after?  Anything would be appreciated.

Thanks ladies.  I've heard so many different things and my RE seems very relaxed with the whole procedure.  I've been more sore than expected post retreival and am hoping that post transfer I won't feel worse than she's telling me.  She tells me to continue my regular activities but my regular activities includes daily exercise which she cut out so I'm a little confused.

Congrats happynifer! Best of luck to you.

Nichumangel, hopefully the third time will be a charm for you :-)

my RE recommended 24 hours of modified bedrest after the transfer and no sex/orgasm for the first 10 weeks of pregnancy.
i followed their advice because if things didn't work i didn't want to feel guilty and second guess any choices i made.
but fortunately i am almost 30 weeks pregnant from my first IVF :)
good luck!

Hi there,
Well this is my 3rd attempt, and there is soooooo much info on this site and on the net in general, My clinic, says to keep doing what we normally do.- Sex included- We however have refrained until a pregnancy is confimed or denied, whatever the case may be. I too had a touch of OHSS this time, no fluid but not able to pee and ovaries swelled to 8.5cm, after my retrival, I am on sick leave from work since July with a herniated disc so i do nothing much more than lay around :-), but usually I work 8 hour shifts at a health facility, and never stop, all I can tell you is go in to this with a positive attitude and relax as much as you can, and try not to think too much about the whole thing, and trust that is alot easier said than done!! I am not much help because I live in Denmark (I am a Canadian) and I have come to realize that nothing they do here is anything like they do anywhere else, espcially the USA, so you will get different comments from different people from all over the world!!  Listen to your body, and enjoy this whole experience as much as you can, no matter what the outcome!"! I wish you the very best, lots and lots of little embies, and tons of Sticky baby dust!!
