Hysteroscopy V Pipelle Biopsy for failed IVF

Hi!

I'm looking at doing my fourth fresh IVF cycle TTC my third child.  This could be my last shot, and I'm using intralipids and the Colorado protocol as I may have immune issues.  My RE is also going to do a hysteroscopy for me.  The only problem I have is that I spoke to another RE from a different clinic last week, and he said he thinks a Pipelle Biopsy is better.  Does anyone have any input on this?  I have read that both are used and can have a beneficial role in implantation and improve pregnancy rates.  But I'm just not sure which one maybe better.  Or maybe they're both similar.  I want to try and do everything right this time, so I can be sure I've left no stone unturned!

Any input greatly welcomed!!  :0)

Well, I'm glad you're polyp-less now!!!  You will be fine!!!  I'm worried about doing a fourth cycle, I can't imagine why this one will work when the others haven't or only ended in a miscarriage.  Just try and keep stress free for this time, I reckon it can help.  Definitely keep me updated.  I'll be a little behind you, as I'll be on the BCPs.  I hope you have wonderful news very soon!!!  It's all very exciting!!!!!  :0)

Yes the polyp was removed and she also removed one that was starting to grow. I am already emotional about it. Sometimes I read some of the womens posts on here that havent been successful after many attempts and I start to freak out! I know I shouldnt compare. it is hard to think what if?! I am starting Lupron injections as son as my AF starts and the third day of Af start Gonel F. So I am very excited to be on this journey but I tend to stress myself too much. you will have to keep me posted on your steps and I will for sure keep you posted. :)

Well, that all sounds good!!!  Was the polyp removed then?

I should get my AF around 7 Sept.  I'll start BCPs that day.  I'll then been given intralipid treatment a week after I start the BCPs.  So, I won't be stimming until around the end of September or early October.  I don't find IVF physically difficult, it's more emotionally draining as you wait for the scans and then wait to hear about the number of follicles, eggs and then embryos!!!  What protocol will you be using?

Hi there,

I was sedated and boy did I get sick from the meds. :( But I went for my u/s yesterday at the fertility clinic and the nurse said things looks good and to order our meds. But there was still some gook she called it from the surgery that was showing in my uterus so they couldnt get the clearest pic of the uterine lining as they would like so I will have a repeat u/s by the third day of my period just to make sure. So  it seems like we are a go. I am very excited and nervous!  So when will u start ivf?

Hi Kim!

I decided on the hysteroscopy as my RE told me that the same thing can be achieved as the Pipelle biopsy but he prefers to be able to look at the uterus for any abnormalities.  The sole reason I had it done was in the hope it would help with implantation for my next cycle, but I do know that polyps can be removed by doing a hysteroscopy.  I am sure the removal of the polyp will be fine, but I imagine you may need to be sedated.  I never had any sedation, was only told to take some pain killers an hour prior.  My uterus was 'perfect' as my RE and me expected, and the tubes fine.  It was amazing to be able to see my uterus on the screen!!  The scraping of some of the endometrium didn't hurt at all.  You will be fine!!!  Good Luck!  And Good Luck with your cycle!!  SSBD

Hello,

I just found out last tuesday that I have a polyp on my uterus and i am scheduled to have a hysteroscopy this thurs. The Dr. didnt seem to concerned about his findings. I am sure that this is quite common. I am hearing that having this procedure does make it easier for the embryo to attach. I am having ivf/icsi  this is our first time trying ivf. We were a little nervous about the news of the polyp as we thought we would have to bump back the meds and retreival and ET date. I am praying this goes well for us so we can stay on track with this cycle cause I am literally 2 weeks away form starting meds. let me know what you decide for procedures. I hope everything works out for you.

Take Care,

Kim :)
