Question re: BD, (O) pain& BBT

How long does ovulation pain last

I was wondering when you ladies bd with dh, after ejauclation how long do you lay there, do you get up right away, do you prop your butt up with people.  Just wondering if im the only one that props my hinder up.

Also, will central air alter your bbt, it seems as if my temps were off, im thinkn because of the central air, also i either had interrupted sleep or didnt get 5 hours of sleep at once, i think that can make your temps not accurate, but what about the central air, anyone no?  I was trying to predict when i was ovulating but everything is different. I had sticky cm that look like egg on monday, only small amount, opk was negative, tuesday opk positive, wednesday ewcm and lots of right side pain.  Im trying to figure out why my temps are like they are if im ovulating.

With the shift change in temp, is it just one day you get the shift change or is is 3 in a row?

I live in Florida and central ac is a must. It doesn't affect my temps at all. The weird thing is, when I feel hot, my temps are generally lower and just the opposite when I feel cold. The only things that seem to really mess with my bbt is drinking, lack of sleep, temping earlier or later and illness.

Electric blankets do affect temps, but they are also bad for ttc.

My O pains usually last 24-36 hours and are quite bad right before I "O".  And I usually lay there (at time with bottom up, other times, not) for 15 minutes or so.
Sorry Latrice, I don't temp anymore so I don't know the answer to the A/C thing.

Good luck  :)

According to the folks I trust, you only really need about 5 minutes for the sperm to get where they need to go, but I think most women feel like it's not enough. I personally, lay there for about half an hour to 45 minutes; sometimes bum up - sometimes not!

I have heard that air conditioning can alter temps, but since you are really looking for trends, I wouldn't think that it would make too much difference (Tina is the queen of temping, so she might have more information! :) )

Also, the temp rise will occur after ovulation and I think that FertilityFriend usually looks for sustained temps and then will go back and pick the ovulation day.

My ovulation pains have lasted up to a week after o'ing - especially during the months that I have had cysts.  So it's hard to use pain as a guide.  The way that I chart is by following my CM and then the three days after the last day that I had fertile CM.  Most women will o on the last day of fertile CM, but it's possible to o during the next 3 days, so I bd every day, to cover my bases!

Good luck! :)
