Unusual discharge after pregnancy termination

I'm almost 35 and tried to conceive about 6 months before 1st pregnancy which ended in Dec 07 at 9 weeks due to missed miscarriage.  I was told it was probably chromosomal abnormalities.  Tried again and conceived after two months in February only to learn at 13 weeks the baby had major birth defects.  We elected to terminate the pregnancy at 15 weeks.  Chromosomal tests were normal on that 2nd baby, but the birth defects that were seen were too much for us to handle.

4 weeks after the most recent d&e, I got my period, a little heavier than usual.  I was thrilled because doc said we could start trying again after first period.  Now 14 days later, I'm having spotting, but not normal spotting.  Mucous that is thin and stretchy (like I'm ovulating), but it is brownish/red in color (3 days now).  This didn't happen the first time. Ovulation prediction is negative for the past 4 days.  Is this type of spotting after d&c or d&e normal or should I contact my doctor?

Thanks for your reply.  The spotting has now stopped and my ovulation prediction was positive yesterday...  Keeping my fingers crossed that we'll conceive this month!

after my first d and c about 3 weeks afterwards, i got these major cramps that happened every couple of days for a week.  whenever i got this very similar **** that week, i would literally gush blood and bleed as heavy for like an hour.  when i called the doctor, they said it was my uterus finishing up collapsing back down to normal size and expelling anything that was still in there.

Mild lower abdominal cramps, very infrequently.  No odor.  I'll probably call the doctor today if it continues.  Thanks for your reply!

I am so sorry to hear of your struggles. I've never had a D&E, but I have had a D&C, and I did not experience any spotting after. I'm not sure if the fact that you were 15 weeks changes things, though. Are you having any cramps or unusual odor?
