Severe OHSS after ICSI what now?

Hi there,
I hope someone can help me, I did my first ICSI cycle in june this year and suffered severe OHSS, my clinic was bad and didn't monitor me much during the cycle just one scan before they put the embryos back even though i was worried I was getting ill they said I would be fine. I have spent most of the last 6 months in hospital, had to terminate my pregnancy because the OHSS was so severe, I had several lots of paracentesis done to drain fluid - I gained 22kg of ascites, I also got peritonitis and have ended up having to have laparoscopy and laparotomy to remove one of my ovaries because it was so badly damaged and a large cyst removed from the other ovary.

What are my options now?

I can't do ICSI again, does anyone know if I can try IVM with just one ovary?

We had to have fertility treatment because my husband had a failed vasectomy reversal, all my hormone tests etc were fine before treatment and I didnt have a history of PCOS although my ovaries after the ICSI were full of cysts?

Are my chances of having another baby over? I am very lucky to have 2 wonderful children from my first marriage but I just have such a strong desire to have a child with my husband it breaks my heart.

Thank you for your replies ladies,
Unfortunately I didn't get any frozen embies, my clinic does not freeze them unless they make it to the 5 day blast stage and ours didn't. I had 12 eggs, 8 fertilised and 2 were put back and they said the others would not freeze.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience!  OMG!  My heart goes out to you...and that doctor?  Well, that just isn't right.

I'm with Heather5.  I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am you went through that.  I too have been suffering from (unexplained) infertility and we have been trying for 2.5 years.  This is my second marriage and I have three children from previous marriage.  We are just dying to have one of our own.  We started trying right after we got married and in four months when I still wasn't pregnant, I went straight to an RE.  After a few IUI's with Clomid and injectables, we are now doing IVF and we have our ET on Monday morning.....

First thing I would do if I were you, is find a really good RE that you can trust.  Tell them what happened to you, and get your records transferred so they can see how much meds and which meds you were on.  I'm sure they will be pretty appalled at your situation.  That is where I would start if, like heather5 said, you have none frozen.

So sorry for your experience.  IVF is not for the faint at heart, but what you have been through is unfair...

I'm so sorry to hear you had such a hard time after your IVF/ICSI. That really stinks that they didn't monitor you better while you were stimming. How many follicles did you have and how many eggs were retrieved? Also, do you have any embies frozen? That would probably be ideal if you do, bcause then you could do a frozen transfer and not have to go through the stimulation process again.
