Should i give up??

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant now for over 15 months.  I have a cycle maybe every 4 months and I only have one tube. I was on metformen for about 7 months and all I got were negative pregnancy results.  Now I’m on Clomid. Taking my temperature every morning, waiting for it to go up.  It never goes up.  If it does it is maybe .4-.6 degrees for a day or two and then back down.  I have been on this for two months now.  And still negative pregnancy results.  The other day my husband rubbed my belly and said when are we going to have a baby in there?  Of course being on clomid I cried. I’m not sure what else to do I have been taking meds that make me not myself for a long time and all I want is a baby. It is all worth it but I feel like it is never going to happen now.  What else can I do??

I'm sure this is so difficult for you! Like other said look into an RE or if you are already seeing one do some searches and look for a doctor specialized in NaPro Technology. They have a different way of looking at things that can be especially helpful. Even under perfect conditions it can take a while for some people.  I definitely don't think it's time to give up yet!

We tried for 5 years before getting a BFP. I agree with Helen about finding a new Dr that will treat more agressively or at least give you some answers. It sounds like your husband is right on track with you about wanting to get pregnant, has he had a semen analysis done yet?

Good luck, and just know there are plenty of options out there in regards to getting pregnant.

Hi Angel:

We tried for over 2 years and 5 miscarriages.   I felt like giving up many times and probably should have.  It seems to me that perhaps you should be more aggressive with your treatment in trying to get pregnant.  I think you might need a little more help than clomid.  Of course if you are not seeing a specialist (RE) than maybe you should at this point.  I did get pregnant, but we ended up having to use donor eggs.  We had it with the miscarriages and disapppointments...so ultimately it's how far you want to take it and how much $$ you can throw at TTC.

But then again...there is always hope and all you need is one good egg.   Make sure you are under some sort of RE treatment....make sure you don't have issues such as ovarian failure...for all you know you could be making efforts in vain.  So make sure you've been tested and that your "infertility" as been diagnosed as to the cause.  That could better help your decision.

For what it's worth....my grandmother was born in 1909 and she met my grandfater about 1930's.  Back then there was no BC really and it took her over 10 years to get pregnant.  And then she did get pregnant and had two children by 1945.  So I would have bet she was dealing with some infertility issues of her own back then.  Anything is possible and you always have hope.

I'm really sorry your having such a hard time and I think we can all relate to what your going through. In my opinion, I would say dont give up yet. I know it's hard. I've wanted to just give up so many times. Now, I'm on a "break". Are you seeing a RE?

Have you seen an RE?  Did your dr actually checked whether yu ovulate on clomid?  If I were you I would find an RE with a more aggressive plan of action for you.

We tried for 2.5 years with all negative pregnancy tests before getting that bfp.  So, don't give up.
