TTC and my doctor is stalling to give clomid. what to do?

Hi all ! I'm new to this but just a little about me, im 22 years old, married and ttc. My husband and have been trying for 2 years with no luck and 9 months ago I was told I have PCOS, which helped me figure out why I wasnt having periods. This may my period started back and I have had 2 consecutive periods. I went to the doctor today to try and get Clomid and continue trying but my doctor keeps pushing it back and is so hesitant on giving it to me. I dont know what to do.

hi ! when my doctore talked about giving me pills she was in between clomid and metformin. she spoke with her husband who is am infetility specialist. my insulin levels were fine and i think thats why she decided against it but im going back for an appt on august 2nd and will talk to her about both meds. she said if im not pregnant by that appt she will give me the medication but she also told me that the month before my appt on the 5th of this month. so im hoping everything will go well with trying to get pregnant this time

Hello,

for PCOS the first line treatment is usually metformin, which can enable the woman to ovulate on her own without a drug to stimulate ovulation (such as clomid).

Please research on and ask your doctor to let your try metformin.

Hi. I'm new here too. I was exactly like you but I don't really know if I have PCOS. But I'm very overweight thou. I'm 25 and have been married for almost 4 yrs. We haven't actually try because I was very irregular like you so I didn't know what was going on. I really didn't care. But about a year ago we started thinking that it was time to take care of me and my crazy cycles so my GYN put me on birth control. It didn't fix it. I told him that I really didn't care of it, all I wanted was to become a mom, and he gave me some pills to start my bleeding and Clomid. Nothing happen. My bleeding was just not coming and I wasn't pregnant. I had given up until my cousin told me to go to a Naturist Store. They had an doctor that reads the eye. He told me a lot of stuff and gave me some pills for different stuff. Thanks to that, I've also had 2 great normal cycles for 5 days each. One on May 19 and on Jun 20. I have never in my life had a normal period. So the Naurist Doctor told me to take that for at least 5 months and I'm on my 3rd one. Most of the GYN don't see how much we want to become mommies. I think you should tell her with strong words and if she can't help u, well then u should change ur doctor. Gladly, I found the last pills I had taken of Clomid and I still had one refill. My GYN didn't pay much attention to me, it was like, "take these and when ur pregnant come back." He *****. But I hope I don't get my period this month of July. It should come on the 20th I guess but I pray to God he gives me the blessing of becoming a mommy. I'm praying for me, and for every one of us that desire a baby! God is good, God is great! Let's not lose faith!!!!!

thank you so much. I am going to try taking my temperature this time and see if i see a change. Should I do it in the morning? And how long does the temperature need to change for me to know when I am ovulating?

I agree that age shouldn't matter, but you are young and probably very healthy and she's using that as a reason not to prescribe the meds. However, I do feel your concerns are valid. I TTC for over a year before realizing that I didn't ovulate on my own. I would use OPKs and get a positive surge, but wouldn't ovulate on my own. I am now using clomid and it has worked for me. I haven't gotten pregnant yet, but my progesterone levels are higher now. I would recommend having your progesterone levels checked first if you haven't already before trying clomid. I wouldn't advise taking any drugs unless you absolutely need them. I didn't want to use any fertility drugs and just wanted to have a baby naturally. Unfortunately, that's not in God's plan for me. So I've come to terms with the process that I've had to go through. Good luck with your journey! Feel free to ask me any questions!

It could be she wants you to try for a few months before going to the clomid. there are some negative side effects with this drug, such as it things the lining of the uterus in some women.

I know from my own experiences, that depending on when you are using the opk results can vary, at one point I was taking them at two different times(late morning and early afternoon), in order to determine, if and when I was ovulating.

I actually found taking my temp daily was more helpful in determining when I and if I was ovulating, I used fertility friend, and that does all the calculations for you, you just need to input the temps.

I also know how difficult it can be when you really want to have a family and there are things that can make it much for difficult for that to happen. Maybe having a conversation with your doctor about how long you will keep trying on your own before moving on to treatment options will make you feel better and give you more insight as to why she want to hold off on the clomid.

She keeps saying because my period is coming thats good. But if my husband and I are having sex regularly and im doing the opk and im seeing no ovulation there is a problem and I am explaining that too her. She keeps thinking about how im 22 but that shouldn't matter.

Did your doctor give a reason behind why he hasn't prescribed clomid for you?
