Thought it was 3rd M/C, turns out it is Ectopic

Hello ladies.  Have missed you, but have been dealing with what the doctor says is an EP.  I am so scared because I've heard of tubes having to be taking out and such and the DH and I have more than enough issues already.  The thing that worried me also is that they've done multiple u/s and see nothing, but concerned because my levels keep going up (not doubling, but going up).  I took the shot of Meth (can't spell it) yesterday to dispose the pregnancy and am praying it works.  I've heeard that sometimes it doesn't work.

How many of you have recovered from an EP? Did the medication work for you? How long did you wait to try again.

I'm worried and scared.  We keep getting pregnant, but no baby????  I'm 30 what's going on?

If you've ever had any procedures where they use gas to open up the abdominal cavity, it's kind of like that! My theory on that (haven't read it anywhere, but it makes sense) is that it's because the methotrexate is breaking down the pregnancy tissue. Anytime the body breaks something down, gas is created as a result. If you feel up to it, you might try walking a little (don't overdo it), and see if that helps.

I had a D&C before my metho, so I'm not sure how much bleeding you'll experience. But I'll find someone that can answer your question.

Hi,Im sorry for your loss.I also had ectopic after 2 healthy preg.I was told ectopic at 8 wks given 3 shots(only bc # increaced after 2 wk)And bled for 2 wks, stopped for 1,then bled for another month.I took 1 month to get af.You will bleed very heavily,You will expierience contraction like cramping & alot of gas pains.Dont be scared this will not work for you or that your tubes will "burst".I think everyone that gets the methotrexate shot feels like a ticking time bomb at one point or another, but it does work.If u/s did not see anything not even in tubes maybe its just tissue growing, not yet a fetus.Girls that I've talked to that there tubes ruptured, they saw a fetus hb & all in the tubes. And had to get surgery.I do recomened an RE.Not bc of ectopic only bc of your previous m/c + ectopic.I was told mine was a "fluke",my insurance did not even cover the hcg.Only after 2 or more ectopics.I was told to wait 2-3 cycles, after levels go down to zero to try again. It took 1 1/2 months for levels to drop completley, started to take prenatals & folic(very important) & got preg.in nov.Good luck & again I'm sorry. This is a great site with a lot of helpful women,so any ?'s,just ask =)

Yes, I told my husband to start researching a RE.  I've also started researching some possible treatments for PCOS as I think they are what's contributing to the m/c's.  Do you know of any RE's in the NY area?

Did you have nay pain after the shot (in the abdominal area).  I feel a little uncomfortable and not sure if it's cause for concern.  My poor DH couldn't handle anything else and neither could I.  I'm just scared of my tube rupturing.

Thanks for your response.

My first bloodtest was 2 days after my shot, and  the levels had actually increased (to about 7700). But after that, they started decreasing.

The EP probably contributed to the adhesions, and my 2 D&C's may have caused some as well. Sometimes, ectopics just happen even if your tubes are clear.

With this being your 3rd loss, have you considered a referral to an RE?

Jacquie will have to help you with an RE in your area, because I live in rural east Texas! I actually drive an hour and a half to an RE in Louisiana.

Yes, I experienced some VERY uncomfortable abdominal pain after the shot. It was like really bad gas pain, but got better after a few days.

Jacqui, yes please give me the name and location of your RE.
mslkpage - I am experiencing the abdominal discomfort now and YES, it does feel like really bad gas pain, that won't come out??  I was getting worried that the shot was not working??  Thank you so much for your help!!  I don't think we will be TTC until like May, I want to have some tests done and give my uterus a rest.  This is too emotional. My poor DH is ready to go, now!!...lol

I've already bled and the lining that forms when you get pregnant has already passed (tmi).  Do you think I'll bleed again?  Oh goodness.

Yes, they said they will monitor it down to zero, which is gonna take some time, being that the last time they checked it was close to 10,000.  I just want it to satrt going down so I can at least have my body back.

Did they say why the lesions formed??  Was it due to the EP?  WE thought this time was IT!!!!  Everything was gooing so well as opposed to the last one that resulted in m/c.  I'm hopeful, but worried at the same time.

They did an HSG on me last March 05 and the tubes were clear, so I'm wondering why this happened.

Sorry to hear of your losses. I had methotrexate in July '05. It took a little more than 5 weeks for my hcg to reach 0, and 2 weeks after that before AF arrived. I waited 3 months before TTC again, because I was concerned about the lingering effects metho can have on the body's ability to absorb folic acid. In Sept '05, I had and HSG, which revealed both tubes were clear. In Dec. '06, I had laparoscopy to determine why I still wasn't pg more than a year after the EP. It turned out a lot of adhesions had formed outside of my fallopian tubes (majority on the left side), and on my left ovary. Now that they've been removed, I just started TTC again this cycle.

Will your doctor be monitoring your hcg levels each week?
