Briefly (as I've already explained this elsewhere and don't want to be a pain!), I'm currently living in Syria and am planning on IVF in Lebanon because despite the political unrest, it is the closest country that has medical standards in which I have any confidence. That said, I have little opportunity for second opinions or for talking with others who are going through IVF so I thought I'd try this... If you don't mind, I'd like to explain my situation and what my doctor is prescribing... Can anyone tell me if they are doing anything similar or give any opinion on the process compared to what they are going through? (excuse me if I don't know the proper/technical terminology!)
I'm 35 and apparently hormone levels, ovaries etc... are all normal (but my husband had a vasectomy over 20 years ago and the reversal failed). My doctor has told me to go on the pill (Fenovan) for a month and to have a Decapeptyl (or Triptorelin) injection on the 18th day of taking the pill. All of this is apprently to force my ovaries to "take a break" in the hopes of producing a larger number of eggs when the ovaries are stimulated by having an injection of Menogon (apparently the same as Pergonal) each day for 10 days starting on the 3rd day of my period.
On the 6th day of the menogon I start doing ultrasounds for the Dr. to decide when to go ahead and harvest the eggs.
Any opinions / comments, very welcome.
Thanks so much
