thanks so much for the imformation. I cant wait to start this procces alrealy.
The actual process takes about two months. The first month is for suppression. You'll probably be on birth control and then lupron. This will ensure that your body is fully suppressed by the time you start the meds, so that the cycle can be controlled fully by your doctor. Then, once you start your period, you'll be ready for month two and the actual FSH medication. You'll probably be on these meds for about 10 days or so before you're ready for egg retrieval. After retrieval, the embryos will develop in the lab for 3 or 5 days before they're transferred back.
The retrieval is done under full anesthesia, so you won't feel a thing. You will be sore afterwards, though. Probably bloated, too. As for the transfer, it's no big deal. It's basically the same as an IUI. The embryos are placed into the uterus, using a catheter through your cervix. Not painful at all.
Best of luck!
It takes a while, you will have to get blood tests and maybe a psychological screening and all. I didn't think it hurt that much when they took the eggs, though they had me on Demerol so I probably wouldn't have noticed much. It did not hurt when they put them back.
