fertility meds

I am doing IVF and my dr prescribed the meds today--200mg of Follistim and 150 mg of menopur.  Has anyone done this protocol?  It seemed low to me.  People are talking about their meds costing $4000 and mine was only $2000 which makes me wonder if I'm on a low dose.
I'm 40 and my numbers (FSH etc) are getting progressively worse so I don't have time to waste. I asked him but he said more isn't always better, something about dominant follicles leaving others behind.
But I thought the point of IVF was to get as many eggs as possible...

Thanks for the comments. I know everyone is different. I just don't want to waste an opportunity by being too conservative, you know?

I'm 38 and my last IVF attempt I started at 375 of Follistim and then they maxed me out at 600 by the end of the cycle (I responded very slowly). This next attempt will be 400 of Follistim and 150 of Menopur. Everyone is so different and they like to see how you'll respond first so you do not overstimulate. Best to you!

My first cycle my RE started me at 300mg of follistim, but I over responded so he continuously backed me down and by the time of ER I was at 75mg.  My next cycle my RE wants to start me at 200mg.  I did not take menopur.

I've used Follistin but never menopur.  I just think at 40 200 follistim is low. I'm waiting for a dr to call me back.  I don't see the point of being conservative at this stage...

i did 300 follistim and 2 powders of menopur. have you taken it before?
