home pregnancy test after ivf possibly correct?

I did egg retrieval on 6/10.  ovidrel(hcg)shot on 6/8.  blastocyst transfer on 6/15.  i know they tell you not to take a home test, but i couldn't help myself.  I thought maybe if i took one every couple of days, the results might be more accurate.  i took a test 6/18 was negative.  today 6/21  tested positive.  Is it even possible?

Big news.....
ER - July 21st 2011
ET - July 26th 2011 (two embryos transferred)
Positive pregnancy test - August 1st
First Ultrasound - August 10th - one embryo seen
Second Ultrasound - August 23rd - WE NOW HAVE IDENTICAL TWINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And we had two heart beats - baby A 124 and baby B (surprise baby!) was 117.  I was 6 weeks and 5 days yesterday.

This was even a fluke for my doctors office as we are the first set of identical twins they have seen in 2.5 yrs.  TOTAL FLUKE!!!!

Please keep my twins in your prayers as they are sharing a placenta (not 100% sure how the doc knows that already) so this pregnancy will be higher risk.  My DH and I are SO excited!!!  Due date is now moved up from April 13th to approximately March 23rd.  We already know we will need a scheduled C section.

Thank you all for being such a wonderful support system throughout this process.  I am looking forward to checking the forum and seeing how everyone is doing!!

Well we are both getting ready for Kindergarteners...that's what i teach as well...soooo much preparation!!

I have never heard of vitrified eggs?? Where do i find them?? Cost??? Sorry, i am so exhausted from putting in 12 hour days this week that i can barely type!!

I am staying positive in the sense that i know i will eventually get pregnant...somehow, someway...it's just going to be much farther away than i wanted which makes me depressed at the same time. I haven't given up in my mind...there's just not too much i can do about it right now. But the more avenues i have to look into the better. I just wish some embies would magically fall into my hands!! I am joining Miracles Waiting tomorrow...when i have the energy to write a proper profile.

Happy Birthday!!!

Here's hoping MY next birthday brings just as many blessings my way!!

You are very determined and that is a good quality.  A lot like me!  It has taken me awhile to respond because I too have been busy preparing my classroom for the beginning of the school year in the anticipation of greeting 25 kindergartners in 2 weeks.

We did use donor eggs, but we chose a donor from a bank.  The eggs we purchased were vitrified.  So we didn't have to wait.  Doing research on vitrified eggs versus fresh eggs I found that the results were comparable.  That way we didn't have to wait to be on someone elses cycle.  My RE "had full control of my uterus"...lol.  I started meds on my normal cycle (which had to be kick started because I am perimenopausal) but just followed the meds they gave me.  Lupron injections to shut my system down (to make sure if on the off chance I ovulated on my own) and estradial.  After 3 weeks, I was on progesterone injections for 7 weeks and estradial.  Continued estradial but was taken off injections and prescribed Crinone vaginal cream for 14 days.  I have been off all meds for a week now...except my thyroid medication, and as of yestersday, anti-nausea medication.

I do believe that everything comes together in the most unexpected ways.  Today I celebrate my 39th birthday and have so many blessings to be thankful for.  You too will have that someday.  Keep being positive!  All the best...

Hello, I wanted to share my present experience.  My husband and I have just completed our first try at IVF and today was the 12th day since 3 healthy embryos were put in.  Today I did a blood test and the results were non conclusive, as the doctor explained that a #3 reading means that you are pregnant and a #0 reading means that you are not.......my reading was #1, so he wants me to wait two more days and then take a urine pregnancy test and see what it reads.  After the blood test I took a Clear Blue pregnancy test which to my horror showed negative.  I did this test in the middle of the day and from what i've been told, these types of pregnancy tests are more accurate first thing in the morning.   I feel so sad and dissapointed at this point - i'm just wondering how much hope I should have for a turn of events and a positive result when next I test in two days time.  Reading about your experiences is helping me feel not so alone in this...., thank you for sharing and God bless you all....., Wendy
