home pregnancy test after ivf possibly correct?

I did egg retrieval on 6/10.  ovidrel(hcg)shot on 6/8.  blastocyst transfer on 6/15.  i know they tell you not to take a home test, but i couldn't help myself.  I thought maybe if i took one every couple of days, the results might be more accurate.  i took a test 6/18 was negative.  today 6/21  tested positive.  Is it even possible?

Congratulations on twins!! Double the blessing. Enjoy!!

Trying4ababy

My class is all ready to go...no kidlettes until September 6th.

Update to everyone:
I am going to use donor eggs. An angel came to my door today and offered me the money I need to continue trying right away. I believe in miracles once again!! He doesn't care if it takes me 2, 4 or 6 years to pay him back or if i need 2, 4, or 10 thousand dollars. I am truly blessed and know for certain this baby is meant to be and is on its way!! I actually dreamt last week that some guy (although not my friend) was handing me thousands of dollars and it literally came true!! I was at my clinic thursday and was inquiring about egg donation which i thought would be 6 months to a year down the road but now i can start looking for an egg donor on Monday!!!! I will wait till December to do the transfer which is when i will be done my payments from my last IVF and that way i only need to borrow half the money. I think it takes that long to find a donor and have all of the testing done and get our cycles together anyway. I am SO excited to get the ball rolling again. And very excited to use anothers eggs because i will get lots of little embies to freeze in case the first try doesn't stick...but it will and i will have lots of embies to donate once my baby is born as i plan to pay it forward!!

Miracles DO happen and more miracles are on the way for me I am sure!!!

Always believe and NEVER give up!!! G-d has a way of making our dreams come true even when all seems lost.

Thanks for the responses, the intended mother and I did pick up some home pregnancy tests today, but I will wait till tomorrow morning, or Sunday morning before taking one.  Then, I will take one Tuesday, and Thursday.  I think they said they would attempt a blood test next friday, but that it may be inconclusive even then.  We know that they may not be overly accurate, and that it may just be too soon, but we just can't help ourselves!!!  LOL.

Even though the transfer was less than a week, I have extreme tenderness in my breasts, and have been feeling a tad sick after eating a few times.  Then will be starving 10 minutes later.  I am beginning to think most of it is in my head, but who knows...  maybe my body knows what is going on...

I will definately keep you all posted!!  It feels very good to be able to do this for someone.  I have a daughter, and know that I don't want anymore children, and figured I had a uterus that I could "loan" them!  :o))

Congratulations on twins!  I am now in the middle of week 13 with our little ones.  I posted pictures of the 12 week ultrasound on my profile....even tho they are still teeny tiny (3 1/2 inches long head to rump) they look like humans and not like a gummy bear...lol!  My DH looks at me at little different now since that ultrasound :0)....VERY precious cargo!  My next doctor appointment isn't until Sept 14...but my doc does an in office ultrasound each time for multiples to check heartbeats and growth....we have what seems like an album full of pictures of the babies already...I love it....love looking at how they have grown at such an incredible rate.  So thankful for these 2 little ones indeed!

What a coincidence we both teach kinder!  I am finally done getting ready!  Had a class for 2 days earlier this week.  Had a VERY hard time the first day.....I keep telling myself to focus!  My mind is totally preoccupied all the time...hahaha!  Classroom is ready finally, tho I pretty much had a lot done leaving for the summer knowing I was doing IVF and if it worked not knowing how I'd feel.  Boy am I glad I did...I was DOWN in July very tired and very sick.  Had a couple good days this week thinking I'm on the upward turn of the first trimester stuff only to get sick yesterday...ughh!  Hoping I can get it together by Wednesday...you know what a fine acting job we have!

As far as vitrified eggs....we went through NW Cryobank which is located in Spokane, Washington.  Vitrification is not simply freezing the eggs, it is extracting moisture in them to preserve them.  We purchased 6 eggs for $9000.  All 6 eggs were thawed, all fertilized, all made it to day 3, and then the natural selection process began....3 arrested the following day, and we had 3 growing nicely the day of the transfer, but they wanted 2 of them to grow a little more so we waited till day 6 to transfer.  At that point we had 2 very nice embryos....one was in the process of hatching and the other was optimal as well.  Both transferred...both took...and voila...twins!

I have sincerely thought a lot about your situation and hope all turns out the way you want.  I wish you all the best on your journey to mommyhood.  And best of luck for a great school year!

What a wonderful thing you are doing!!!!!!!!   I had a day 5 transfer on July 26th and I had a VERY faint positive test on August 1st which was my day 6.  I know this isn't the norm....my friend had a day 3 transfer and didn't have a positive until day 10 so everyone is different.  I recently found out on my 2nd ultrasound that I am having  identical twins which may account for the early results.  That being said my orginal HCG levels were kind of high but not "multiple" high.  I am crazy and took tests everyday from transfer on...I don't recommend that lol.

Good luck to you and the intended parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   You will have a very special place in heaven :).

Congratulations!!!! thats really exciting news. Good luck with the pregnancy.

Tygereye30: even for a 5 day transfer, 5 days is too early to test. hold off for a little longer.
And its so cool of you to help one of us! best of luck for All.

Hello Everyone!!

I am actually a gestational surrogate.  A close friend and her husband couldn't have any children, and the husband actually did the research and found out about IVF, and the potential for surrogacy.  I had talked to my sister, and mentioned that I was interested in possibly being a surrogate, and she passed on my name to this friend.

Well, here we are, I have been on certain meds for quite a while, progesterone shots started last week.  Our transfer date was August 21, and I have to say, I seem to be having symptoms already, the embryo's were 5 day embryo's.  Is it to soon to try a pregnancy test?!?  I am sooo excited for the intended parents, I want this for them so bad...
