home pregnancy test after ivf possibly correct?

I did egg retrieval on 6/10.  ovidrel(hcg)shot on 6/8.  blastocyst transfer on 6/15.  i know they tell you not to take a home test, but i couldn't help myself.  I thought maybe if i took one every couple of days, the results might be more accurate.  i took a test 6/18 was negative.  today 6/21  tested positive.  Is it even possible?

Congrats on being pregnant with twins :-)

My doctor is the one that said it would cost 12000 with everything meds for me, the donor, donor sperm. He says that's what we are looking at. My head is spinning. I tried getting my classroom ready today and couldn't focus had to come home and cry. That's all i can do...I feel like it's just not going to happen for me. I can't wait years that's for sure. I have already put myself on the donor embryo list and when i go in to speak with the nurse next Thursday (The one that handles this is on vacation) I will ask her about donor eggs...I assume there is a waiting list for that as well and get my name on that. I figure if the IVF is payed off in November and I can save enough for meds for me and the donor mother by January or February then i can try again and finance the rest. But even though i have a plan it is so hard for me to be hopeful...when i thought I could try again i was hopeful. Would it be stupid of me to go against my doctor's recommendation and do another round of IVF with my own eggs?? Or is it just a waste of money at my age??

I have been reading your posts and am very sorry to hear your news.  I read that you are looking into embryo donation.  I also read about Fearsome Kitty using donated eggs and sperm.  Not sure the cost of that???  We had to use donor eggs (but with DH sperm).  The cost for the DE was $9000....not sure where you are from but $12000 seems like a lot!

Even tho my RE said we could try to use my eggs, he suggested DE because of my age (38...39 this week) and due to the fact I only have one fallopian tube and ovary.  I think using an egg that was "age 26" gave us the positive results we were looking for.  I had two embryos transferred on day 6....had a positive HPT 5 days later and am now 12 weeks along with twins!

All things are possible....just when you least think they are.  Hang in there and I am sending you all the blessings that positive things come your way....

Believe me i know exactly how you feel. I thought I felt better yesterday but I am feeling crappy again today. I'm usually the person to give pep talks about staying positive...I don't even feel like "me" anymore.

I heard back from the clinic, there are 10 people ahead of me on the waiting list and it is really up to the donors...it is their requests that are followed. And I am guessing that most want a couple rather than a single parent...I feel like it really could be a 2 year wait.

I was put onto another clinic that doesn't seem to charge too much, about 3500 so that would be about 5500 between what my clinic charges and theirs does, but they seem to be catholic...so unless they accept all ethnicities they won't be much help to me. I called and left my number with them and am waiting to hear back.

I looked all over for donor embryos.  Yes, drastic cost reduction.  My problem was it was like an adoption, and it took all this time......I just thought you could buy them from a center that had them donated and they gave up their rights.......but that is an excellent route.  Will you be given the quality of them?  Just wondered how much info. is given to you.  This is all so interesting.

Are you using your same clinic?  You know, you can find an embryo donation center and use your clinic for the transfer.  You could always have a few options.

Yes, the baby will be yours, all yours.
