IVF/ BC Pills????

My cycles are very very regular. Even after my first round of clomid my period came only one day late. I know that before you start the meds along with IVF most RE's want their patients to do atleast one month of BC pills. I was wondering, I am just so anxioius to get this all started if maybe I won't have to take the BC pills because my cycles are always right on schedule?? I know no one will know for sure but if there is anyone out there that didn't have to take them-what is your story?
Thank you so much ladies!

Thank you so very much as there is so much to learn and know about IVF.  Plus the anxiousness is hard to control.

Helen: Our next app. is Mar 26. I am so excited-I just want to get this going you know? I just remember my RE saying something about birth control pills. DH and I will know exactly when after this next app. Thank you for your response-I know I can always count on you!

mature momma: What you were explaining makes absolute sense! Thank you. I guess my excitement gets the best of me sometimes! I hope your next IVF works for you. This will be your third? Do you happen to know why the others failed?  I hope Apr. 6 comes quickly for you.  Sending  you lots of love and baby energy.

Jenny5: Hey thank you! I am wishing you much luck for your  IVF. I hope this is the answer for you.

I'm gonna start IVf next treatment. I'm just going through my 3 m/c and next time i'm going ivf since we don't know why this keeps happening. My re is gonna do a fresh cycle so he said he's gonna start me directly on meds not on birth control pills. The reason is cause he is afraid for me of hyperstimulation and he don't want to give me a lot of meds. So i'm gonna start directly on injectables. But most of the cases start with birth cp

Hi,
They have you a BCP's for several reasons. As Helen72 said to suppress your system. They want your ovaries quiet and not stressed for awhile. Also to reduce the chances of developing cyst on your ovaries which can happen with the meds. Another is timing. They want everyone that is doing IVF to be ready for their transfer on the same day. Makes it easier for the staff with their schedule.
There is so many things to learn about IVF. I am going thru my 3rd now.
Our transfer is set for April 6.
If I can help you with any questions let me know. Blessings for a baby.

The way I understand it, you need b/c for suppression, not for regular cycles.  It is very important that you don't O on your own before your ER and b/c helps with that.  Without b/c you may have some leftover corpus luteum that can be reactivated by the high LH levels you'll be getting.  In addition to b/c you may also be taking Lupron that makes you menopausal.
When are you starting b/c?
