im seriously at a loss
ok, i am like a month late now, as many of you know, i tested and tested and tested up until 12DPO, all BFN, well today at target they had hpts on sale, so i grabbed one, took it when i got home BFP! i am at a loss, i was a firm believer that if you hpt the day after af is due, you can trust the results, well...i think i might have to think a little differently now, baby dust to all!

I think I recall one woman here could not get a positive result on a urine test until she was something like 6 weeks pregnant even though she got a BFP on a blood test. I guess it definitely happens. Wow.

You will get a positive on a home test when your HCG levels reach the level detected by the test. Most times, this is not even listed on the test itself. And of course its assuming the test was done on a FMU. Some tests require much more of the hormone to be present than others.
You said you tested and tested up until 12dpo. Well, at 12dpo, your period was still 2 days away, if you have regular, 28 day cycles. So you could easily not have had enough hormone to react. BTW, you said you are a month late??? You mean your last period was 8 WEEKS AGO? Wow! Yes, this would be very unusual to not show a positive. A month late means you EXPECTED your last period a month ago, and it didn't show.
Or do you mean your last period was a month ago? I'm confused, as always!

Taysmommy corrected herself in her second post. She said it wasn't at 12 dpo it was at 12 days late for her period.

No, I didn't see the other post by her, I just went by what she put above.
HCG will show when the levels are high enough to be detected in the urine, depending on the sensitivity of the test.

ya im amazed, i dont know if it had something to do with me breastfeeding that it didnt show(i dont see why that would matter but thats the only thing i can think of!) the only expenation i can come up with is maybe my first ovulation was a surge with no actual ovulation, and then i "o"ed later and am not 8 weeks, but i will find out at my first visit i guess;)

and peekawho, i made a mistake;) i tested when i was 12 days late
and to add, i tested with clear blue easy when i was 7 days late, tested with ept when i was 12 days late.....
i guess im just a freak of nature! but at least im already 8 weeks into it, and miraculosly no symptoms!

I think it's delayed o as well. I had all the signs this month when o was due and then nothing. Finally o'd 2 wks late! I bet the same thing happened to you. But, I'll take a delayed o w/bfp over normal o and bfn any day!!!! Congrats!!! :)
Congrats!! I had to re-read your post thinking you made a typo and meant BFN. But much Congrats to you and I guess it's true what they say, HPT doesn't show in everyone's urine right away. I thought you had a blood test done when you were late???
i was going to have a blood test done, but i believed in those darn hpts being right, i hoped i was preggo, but rationally i thought there was no way, but as someone else said, i might have "o"ed at a different time then i expected, since i had the iud out, my cycles might have been messed up, so i may have"o"ed two weeks late or something makeing me 4 weeks, but only time will tell, then only thing im scared about is the day before i found out, i said to dh, i feel like im having a miscarrage, i figured i was about to start af or something, so im reallly trying to take it easy
Yeah, I hope you can take it easy. I know you're thrilled and can't wait to find out exactly how far along you are. Either way, it's so good to hear news like that. Now that you know, all of your symptoms will probably start LOL.
