How many mature follicles... how many babies?

Hey Ladies,

As I prepare for my 4th IUI..... I have 3 mature follicles this time, the most I've ever had.  Just curious how many follicles you have all had, and how many babies you ended up having? I did Follistim between 75-100 IU's, and Trigger last night. IUI will be tomorrow :)

Thanks!!!

With IUI # 1 i had 2 follicles at 18.  I know the RE screwed up the timing - i had already had my LH surge before the trigger shot, and needless to say, that time didnt work.

In May, I had one follicle at 22, and 1 at 16.  I ended up ovulating later  than usual for some reason, and guess what - the IUI actually worked!  I am pregnant with one baby!

One thing i did different that one of the ladies suggested on here is that i ate pineapple core during the 2ww.  I dont know if that helped, or if it was just the fact that this IUI was actually timed properly, but it doesnt matter because the end result is the same!

Wishing you all the best!

I had my #1 IUI in april-- 3 follies on right side. trigger with ovidrel and IUI 36 hours later. 4 ML of swimmers, 75 % motility and 3 progression.  Didn't work that time:( DH also has issues with morp and Motility so hoping IUI #2 will do the trick next cycle. Had IVF in 2008 with 2 lil beans and they didn't stay very long so here's hoping and praying that all of our prayers are heard up stairs... Man upstair heard my sis who just turned 40 and she got triplet girls NO FERTILITY TREATMENT... umm I think she must have used my prayer line..LOL J/k Baby dust to U and ur DH!!

Oh ya, and first IUI I had 2 follies and 3 with the second.  My clinic doesn't go ahead if there are more than 3 or 4.

I had 2 failed IUIs (on Femara and Gonal F) and will go for number 3 after this cycle (currently in 2WW after natural cycle).  It hasn't worked yet, but we have unexplained fertility so nothing physically wrong that they could find. I'm hoping it's just a numbers and waiting game.  Good luck and let's hope we all have BFP soon!!!!

I had 4 IUI's in 2007 (the 4th one worked and now I have a beautiful 2 year old son)-I had 3 mature follies that time.  I am now pregnant with baby #2 (9 weeks).  It took 3 IUI's this time-and again I had 3 mature follies.  IUI's can and do work.  I am living proof.  Good luck!!

Is this your first try for you and your partner?

I tried 1st IUI last month with 3 follicles.  It didn't work.  Will be U/s on saturday to see if we try again this month.  My partner has low count.  me, I'm just pushing 40 so not getting any younger.

I think they like to see 2 - 3 mature follicles.  Better chance of getting 1 to take.  Low risk of having 2 and very low risk of having 3.

They don't like more than 3 though.  Too high risk on the off-chance all fertilised.

Thanks for the encouraging words.... Hopefully this will be the last IUI I have to do.  What will be will be is in God's hands... I continue to pray every day!!

My DH also had a good count but a very low morphology.  We tried two IUI cycles and then my RE reccomended moving on to IVF.  I just got my BFP from my first IVF cycle.  My advice would be to ask your RE's opinion because mine seems to have known what he was talking about and I'm glad he didn't make us continue with IUI when he thought it wouldn't work.

Hopefully your IUI will work this month and you won't have to worry about needing to decide between IUI and IVF!  I have seen tons of posts on here about people who had successful IUIs so it definitely can happen!  Good luck and SSBD!

I hope this one works!! Doesn't look like anyone has been successful in their IUI's :(   Are there any factors that either you or your husband have? I'm just trying to decide how much longer to go on IUI before trying IVF.  I'm hoping that this 4th one is it!!

I have endometriosis (stage 2) although the doc doesn't seem to think that is preventing me from getting pregnant.  My uterus is also a funny shape, thin on one side, thicker on the other.  During my HSG the doctor said that's not really a factor that causes infertility. I do not ovulate on my own, so take HCG to trigger.

My husband has an OK count, it's the morphology that is really really low.

Wow... that is quite a few.  Your doctor will still do the IUI with that many mature follies -- They started getting concerned when they saw that I was going to have 3.  If I waited until Friday, I think there might have been one more even and that is what they were afraid of.

Looks like we will be in our 2WW together :)

Good luck to you too!!! Hopefully this is our month.
How many IUI's have you done, and what treatment did you use??

Good Luck to you! I haven't had a positive result from IUI yet, but hopefully this next one on Friday will be the one. I had 4 follies on each side this month, and by Friday 5 or 6 will definatley be ready, maybe all 8!

Good Luck to you!
