No worries! Aspirin is only an issue in pregnancy when it's the full-strength version...baby aspirin (which is only 81 mg) is totally fine to take while pregnant. I'm now 34 weeks pregnant and have used baby aspirin every day since the very beginning.
As for the MTHFR gene, there are different theories about how much it affects pregnancy outcome, but after having more than one miscarriage, it seems most doctors suggests baby aspirin and extra folic acid to women who test positive for this gene. If you do a search on this site, you'll probably find lots of posts from other women with MTHFR who were put on baby aspirin and folic acid. Although, I have to admit, I haven't heard anyone refer to "type A" MTHFR before... If I were you, though, I would probably listen to your second doctor and take both.
:-)
I just finished IVF also. I am waiting for my first US on the 30th of this month. They have me on baby asprin, prenatals Progesteron and Estradoil. I think the baby asprin is to prevent blood clots while on the Estradoil. The baby asprin thins the blood. But I don't know anything about MTHFR 2 mutation and type A.
I just went through a cycle of IVF. While I dont know anything about your diagnosis, I do know they had me take the Baby Aspirin every day during my IVF cycle. Then, they had me stop a couple of days ago (I just found out yesterday I was pregnant, praying that everything goes as planned). So, I think the Baby Aspirin must have been important during the cycle, but they told me to stop taking it! I know that probably doesn't help at all, but thought I would share my experience...
The only think I am allowed to take is Tylenol now (and my prenatals and they have me on Progesteron and Estradoil).
