mid cycle bleeding

hi all,

I think i'm about ready to ovulate...i have all the symptoms of being fertile and approaching ovulation, including some mid cycle spotting.  The mid cycle spotting is generally normal for me.  Since i'm fertile, my DH and I have been doing the baby dance rather frequently.  This afternoon after we had sex, i was bleeding quite a bit.  It seemed more than my "normal" mid cycle spotting.  I am not bleeding now...it stopped soon after, it's just right after sex, it was (sorry if tmi) a huge glob of blood, then nothing.  Has this happened to anyone before?  Should I be worried?  i've heard that blood will not interfere with sperm or fertility.  Anyone know if that's true?  Thanks.

I know this is coming many months after your post but i would definitely check it out with your ob/gyn.  Bleeding after intercourse can be a sign of endometrial polyps on your cervix (basically wart-like cysts), which can prevent conception when you are ready to get pregnant (because they block the fertilized egg from embedding in your uterus and can also prevent the embryo from growing) .  If they are big or numerous, then they get irritated during sex and cause bleeding.  If that's the cause, I've read that it can easily be treated, but you're better off treating it now rather than later when you are ready for children.

Some women actually bleed a little when the egg is released from the follicle. It can vary from a tiny spot to a light bleed depending. Sometimes a cyst can rupture and do the same thing. And then sometimes, it's just break through bleeding from the action of sex. It is likely nothing to worry about unless pain and/or fever is present.
