new to this

I just came across this board by doing a search on things to help you get pregnant.  My husband and I have been trying for a year and 7 months now.  I have an appointment with the obgyn on the 15th to discuss our trouble...will be my first time discussing it with a doctor.  Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for questions it might be important for me to ask?

I got told after, that they should have told me when they called to give me the time of my xray.   Any who my dr messed mine up too.  he injected the dye before the xray tech was ready to watch it so I they injected again. took a little longer then normal but over all it wasn't to bad.  I was back at work within 45 mins I think. would have been fast but the dr was late.

I couldn't agree more on the advil!  They didn't tell me this and the hsg was really uncomfortable.  It made me cramp really bad plus it didn't help that the one doing it couldn't get the tube thing in there, thought he did, started using the dye and it went everywhere so he had to get a new one and start all over.  That's when he said I have "cervical stenosis". Ugh!  But yes, do take something before you go, if you have to go. :)

it's a  hysterosalpingogram (HSG).  Basically it's an Xray of the uterus and fallopian tubes to make sure there isn't any blockages.   it's not the most confortable feeling in the world but the results were worth it.

Thank you both for the info...that's helpful...especially the advil advice.  ;)  I do have one question...what does HSG stand for if you know?

This site is great for any questions that you may come up with too.    Alot of us have been through it too so we can say from experience.    if you go for an HSG I would say take an advil or 2 before hand.  it was a little painful and that would have really helped me out.

If it's your first visit and your concerns are why you're not conceiving they'll do all the work. :)  I'm sure you'll have blood drawn to check for hormone levels and they'll possibly ask for your husband to give a sperm sample.  Are you tracking your ovulation time? IF so, they'll have more to go on after you get the results of your blood work.  If that's all fine, they'll probably move on to an HSG, which they'll do in the hospital and that will check to see if your fallopian tubes are open. You'll get alot of info on this first visit.  Good luck hun!! If you anymore questions or just want to talk please feel free to message me. :)
