I dont think they would be combining anything. I think the RE was thinking that since his count went down so fast it would improve that fast. I think tomorrow I might call my RE and tell them how I feel. Maybe it would be better to wait one more month. I am just so confused because I want to go ahead and do this, but I have no idea what his SA will be. I wonder if they can do a SA this week to see if it has improved. Hmmmmm....
My DH is on arimidex, and his sperm count rose from 0 to 300,000. It is used for women with breast cancer, but you might ask him about it. It has helped us!
Here is what DH doctor said:
" It takes 90 days to make mature sperm, so if you want to see an actual good notable increase in sperm wait 90 days from the point a change was made. "
If he was been off of it 6 weeks and they want to do IUI with only 2 million, that sounds a bit scary to me. If it were me, I would wait the extra month, and see how his count increases. I would also talk to the RE and bring up the point of how long it takes sperm to mature, and get his opinion before proceeding.
2 million is a count, but it's still 3 million less than what my RE said he would use as a min. amount of sperm. Are they combining samples to get the count higher? Like saving up three samples for 6 million?
Before Clomid his count was any where between 15 million and 20 million then after clomid it went down to 2 million. His numbers went that low after only being on Clomid for 6 weeks. So, our RE said w/ in 6 weeks his count should go back up to his normal. I am just so scared of going through all these ultrasounds, clomid, trigger shot and everything just for his count to still be low. I have been going back and fourth all weekend about should we do it this month or not. RE seems to feel pretty confident!
What is the sperm count? IUI will work if the numbers are < 5 million (<=greater than). I'm sure your RE wouldn't put you through the stress is he/she didn't think it was high enough.
The wasting of money is a hard thing to swallow, but I'm sure you'll be fine! Hang in there!!!
