Hello all, just wanted to get views and any comments/support to my questions. I have been a regular on this forum in the last 6 months and really have and do appreciate all the help and advice given.
Firsly here in England ivf precedures seem alittle different to USA and Australia, i.e different meds, transfers shorter etc anyway after a miscarriage following first successful ivf in april, we embarked on our second and final attempt of ivf as so costly(spent nearly £11,000) so far all our savings. As I am an older mum, 41, my ovary reserve doesnt produce many eggs, 5 last time, 4 follies this time, only 2 containing eggs. But it is quality not quantity and we only wanted one embryo put back so this was fine.
Had 2 day transfer(dr's here think the sooner the embryo is back in the mother the better chance it has of carry on dividing and blasto stage and continuing to develop) as long as it had started to divide, so at a 2 day transfer we were looking for cell division of 2-4, ours was a cell 3 so dr was pleased and now I am on the 2ww. Has any of you had success from 2 day transfer, many of these posts are 5 day or 3 day? also to support a pregnancy last time i was on pessaries, this time i have to have just 2 pregnyl injections, one was on my transfer day(friday just gone) the second i take on monday, want i want to know is why change to this method, have any of you gone from pessaries to injections on your second attempt? asked dr and he just said would help me better, not explain why?
I am so, so nevous this time as I got the BFP in april then the dreaded bleeding came 10 days later, just have to focus on this attempt. best wishes to one and all in the 2ww or just starting out or if the news wasnt good, theres always hope and NO ONE GIVE UPxxx lots love melissax
Your question is a good one, I have also noticed the lovely ladies on here are mostly doing 3 or 5 day transfers. I did a 2 day transfer, the same as you, and when I asked my RE why 2 and not 3 he said that the subject is a controversial one and no one has proven that one is conclusively better than the other. At my clinic they are of the belief that embryos do better in their natural environment and so to place them in the uterus earlier is the better option. The other important piece of information is that I just got my BFP, so it definitely works!! I understand your fears, after two losses I am cautious at this very early stage. But many women go on to have successful pregnancies after miscarriage and I hope that you and I are next!
I hope that sweet Alfie is doing ok after his tumble and that the 27th brings you much deserved joy!!
