What to do about gall bladder polyps.?

am a fit and healthy 40yr old and had a health check. the ultrasound in ab area showed that my gall bladder had polyps. how should l vary my diet? l usually enjoy steamed green veg twice a day with couple of tablespoons of extra virgin oil. should l cut the oil out. l suffer no pain from this and wouldn't know otherwise. what should l do to make sure all is ok, frequent body checks like once a yr?
kindly give related information.

There are screening tests that have been shown to be beneficial such as mammography, cholesterol screening, simple blood pressure monitoring, etc. We don't screen for gallbladder disease because 80% of people with gallstones are asymptomatic and thus would not benefit from surgery. If symptoms differentiate surgical candidates from noncandidates why would you do the study if there were no symptoms? Generally, tests are not obtained if the results won't change the clinical management of a patient.

thanks for reply Dr Watters, "unindicated tests" does appeal to hypochondriacs, which l am not; as l said it was my first body check in 40 years. this check has enlightened me to polyps in my gall bladder and the recommendation to have an regular body checks. probably ~ every 2 years? there are body checks here for about 4.5K HKD, that checks many of your organs, cholesterol level, urine and feces, etc. do you recommend them?

thanks again for help Dr Watters :)

That is the problem with unindicated tests - you are forced to deal with the results. There was a OB/GYN in my state that wasn't making it in his chosen profession so he took his ultrasound machine and put it in a truck that he drove by numerous companies and places of business convincing folks that it was a good idea to "check things out". Obviously these people had to pay cash for the unindicated testing since insurance wouldn't pay for tests done for no medical indication. We were dealing with a flood of incidentally found thyroid nodules, asymptomatic gallstones and who knows what the GYN found when looking for vascular disease. This generated a lot of angst and added expense but contributed little to actually finding meaningful abnormalities. If there was a proven benefit to these studies they would be part of a normal annual health check like mammography.
As for your hours, I believe that consistency is probably more important than the actual hours.

thanks for reply Dr Watters. it was my first body check up just to see how my health is. I go back  in March 8th to meet the Dr to discuss my health status, l will enquire the size of the polyps. As I said, I am very healthy with no bad habits like smoking, drugs, alcohol, workout about 4-5x a week and wouldn't know I had polyps in my gall bladder. The only bad habit that may effect my health is I go to bed very late, about 630am, wake about 2pm. would this adversely effect my health? looking forward to your reply.
kind regards

First question  is why was the study done in the first place? When unindicated tests are performed we are forced to deal with the results. The most likely situation is that you have discovered asymptomatic gallbladder disease as most things called polyps in the gallbladder are actually gallstones adherent to the gallbladder wall (93% in studies). With this said, you are now obligated to follow this as gallbladders with polyps greater than 10-12mm should be removed due to cancer risk. If the polyps are all smaller than this and there are no symptoms referable to the gallbladder, period ultrasounds (annually) would be the recommendation.
