I have come to terms I am there and has been for 11 months and I am 48 years old. Hot flashes are bad, mood swings not to bad but realize one thing exercising does the trick. Be consistent and find a diet that will work for you. Good luck.

Hello,

By strict definition, premature ovarian failure applies to woman < 40 yrs of age.  That said, much of how a woman younger than you would be counsel still applies, most notably that hormone replacement, unless otherwise contra-indicated, is recommended.

I'd encourage you to discuss in greater detail with your physician what this diagnosis will mean for your overall health.  Additionally, the following is a website to find support:

Best regards and Happy New Year.

I can relate to your situation.  I was "diagnose" in September with premature menopause.  I'm 38 yrs old.  I had a sister who started this at 33.  I am the mother of 3 and we are through having children, but you shouldn't have to deal with menopausal symptoms while still raising young children, right?!

I just wanted you to know that you're not alone.  I have all the symptoms you listed, plus a few more!  My best advice is to surround yourself with positive reinforcements (not chocolate!) and make yourself exercise.  That has been my saving grace and I haven't exercised regularly since 1989.  Even if it's a treadmill 20 minutes a day, it will help!

Good luck to you and your family ... remember, they are suffering with you!  I know mine is!!!  :-)
