corpus luteum vs. solid lesion

I am a 49 year old woman, still menstruating regularly, with personal history of atypical ductal hyperplasia of breast (on tamoxifen 2002-2006) and strong family history of premenopausal breast cancer.  Family history is negative is BRCA gene.  My breast surgeon recommended I have a screening pelvic ultrasound, which showed a 1.7 mm hypoechoic area in the right ovary on day two of my menstrual cycle.  Impression was corpus luteum vs. solid lesion, recommend followup ultrasound in six weeks.  What is the likelihood that this is, in fact, a corpus luteum?

First, ultrasound or any imaging method is not perfect.

If it was day two of your menstrual cycle it should not be a corpus luteum cyst.  Corpus luteum cysts are present after ovulation and typically resolve by the start of the menses.  Also, if they think there is a solid component to it, it is definitely not a C.L.  

A repeat ultrasound and CA-125 level will be helpful.
