painful lump

I have a painful hard lump on my upper thigh. it really hurts and i am not sure what it is. It started out looking like a little white head but it got bigger and the hard area under the skin is a little smaller than a quarter. I am not sure what it is or how to treat it. what should i do?

Hi!
Sounds like you may have an infected hair follicle.  Your best bet is to go to the walk in clinic and get it checked, as you are probably going to need some antibiotics,  It may also be necessary to lance the top and drain the lesion if there is a collection of fluid underneath.

You can try applying heat and see if you can get it to drain on its own, but please do not wait around too long, as it could become a serious infection if it is neglected.

Good luck!
