post yasmin discharge

Hi
My daugher came off the BC pill yasmin over 7 months ago, and for the last 6 weeks has experienced a brown vaginal discharge. How normal is this, and will it stop, Also, how long before normal periods return, in order for her to conceive a pregnancy?

Hi!
Usually when stopping pills it can take between 1-3 months for the cycle to resume.
In your daughter's case, it sounds like hers hasn't returned to normal--and that isn't normal.  If she was my patient, I would treat her with progesterone to clean the uterus and stop the brownish discharge, then I would discuss something like Clomid or Femara to start ovulation again.  She will need to ovulate to conceive, or to have her regular menstrual period.  And, it sounds like she will need some medication to help her ovulate.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, it was most helpful. I have passed your comments onto my daughter, who will now go to her GP and discuss your recommendations.
