in regards to your question i did not have irregular periods prior to taking provera, they were always on time, however after i stopped taking the bc pill in february i have had on and off spotting since then. Dr ordered tests today LSH, HCG, prolactine, FSH, Luteinizing hormone, guess we will wait and see
Hello,
Did you have irregular periods before you were started on the pill? If so it would be normal to have irregular bleeding now you are back off of it. That said, any woman who is having irregular bleeding, as you describe, should be worked for pregnancy, a thyroid (TSH) or prolactin abnormality, polycystic ovarian syndrome and given you did not bleed after taking provera, premature ovarian failure. Another thing to consider is having been on the pill for ten years I suspect the lining of your endometrium (the inner lining of the uterus that sheds to result in menstrual flow) is really thinned out and atrophic. This can at times cause irregular bleeding. None of this is related to the small fibroid.
An evaluation by your gyn will be very helpful in sorting out the cause of your symptoms.
Best regards,
Dr. Downing
I was on depo for five years! I never had a period after the second dose. I can tell you that I went to the doctor numerous times and they always did a pap and said everything is normal sometimes women dont have periods on depo some women do. I can also say that I have been off of depo for now a year and three months and barely got my period!!! That med. really is weird!
