vagina itches and scrapes

So I am under 25 years old and although I've had boyfriends in the past, I've never had sexual intercourse. I've had a HIV test a year ago and it was shown that i have no hiv. however, sometimes during the summer, there will be a few times when my vagina starts to itch on the outside of the vagina flaps or around the area of my vagina. i would then start to scratch it alot and many times, i will scrape my vagina by accident on the spots i scratch too hard and it'll cause veryyy minimal spots of blood. i'm worried that it's not normal to have itchiness and scratches on my vagina and i believe the bleeding is because of me scratching it. i am hoping it is no major problems since usually after a few weeks, my vagina is back to normal. please help, thanks!!

I actually have never had sex before and I have the same thing only mine occurs about once a month. Sometimes when I start my preiod (period) I get extremely irritated down there and I don't know what it is, but it itches and if I scratch it starts to burn. I just figured that the moisture that is held in by my pad irritates me is that the case or is it something other that I should be worried about?

yeah so i've had my itches and scrapes for about a week now. it's actually getting a lot better. at first i used vaseline but it didnt work so well so i tried johnsonjohnson baby powder and it actually works very well. i recommend you guys to try it too. the baby powder is able to help me keep my vagina dry and stops it from itching for awhile. i actually have my period right now but i only have these itches/scrapes about once a year. wel, i just thought of recommending baby powder becuase i think it helps

Also I tried to bathe with Dettol to help ease it, geez I got burned so much I actually had to sit in cold water for an hour  Please can tell me what really going on, im afraid to have sex, gee if my guy see s that he'll say to me, " go clean up down there first." that will be a total embarrassment. I am not sexually active, so i know it is not a std.But for a few months now, my vagina has been itching like crazy. It is mostly at night when it starts to itch and sometimes will continue into the morning and when i take a shower and such. I have absolutely no idea why this itchness is happening but I am so annoyed with it. When I look at it, it does not look any different or any abnormalities. I have done through two tubes of Vagisil. It does help temporary but I need something to be able to take the itchiness away permanently. I am scared to go to the doctors about it and I never have been to a gyno, so I don't think I am ready for that yet. I am going to start college next month and I do not want to start a new chapter in my life with this problem occuring every night.

Hey...

I had the same problem... and the first time i went to a gyno was because I couldn't take it anymore. I was super terrified because I went alone. It's no biggie though... Like maybe u can confide in someone...like your mom or sister or a best friend or something so they can help you through it. I was scared it was some type of STD... but it wasn't (I was not sexually active).

Anywhos... the doctor tells me that it's a vaginal infection which can cause the it to itch. They give you this cream and you insert it into your vagina. After a while it feels better...less itchy. The problem is that it comes back.... for me anyway... This week I visited the gyno. the guy was in and out in 5 minutes or less... He gave me this cream to treat the outside of it... and told me to stay out of the pool... (I dont go swimming) *shruggs... if you can ask your gyn to find out ways to prevent it maybe you can share with me.

But you should confide in someone close to your family. It's very common and perhaps your mom or sister or aunt has been through it. After I went to the gyn... I told my mom and she told me she would get it sometimes toos...  I wished I told her earlier...so i wouldn't have been so scared. till now... I still flinch when they touch me to examin me. gOod Luck!

what you guys have is a yeast infection, you dont have to have the smell or discharge to have a yeast infection. i get them on a regular basis and have the same symptoms, much like anything that itches you dont want to itch it... if you have to do something the best bet is to rub. baby powder may feel ok for a while but that is just going to irritate it more. you can see a doctor they have a pill that will take care of it in about 48 hours, after you take the pill about 24 hrs later you will itch even more than normal but by the next day it is much better. if you dont want to go to the doctor you can get monostat over the counter, i prefer the one dose because it gets it done and over with.. the monostat also comes with a cream. i find it works best if you take a shower and clean well with a nonscented soap and then put the cream on, make sure that you dry yourself well first.

make boric acid capsules and use for 2 nights (inser 1 each night b4 going to bed) take break 1 night and then insert the 3rd capsule on that 4th eve and u will be 'cured' if it is a yeast infection.  Of corse you will like to use this if you are not dependant on prescriptions and dr.s, even if you are this will still work for you

Don't ever use powder beyond the outer lips of your labia. Actually, I'd stay between the creases of your inner thighs. Long term powder use inside or near the inside of the vagina is one of the causes of some cancers.

I agree with Mrs. Williams for a yeast infection. You can also you capsules of probiotic and/or acidophilus alternating with diluted douches of apple cidar vinegar. It's best to leave the capsules in over night and do the douching in the morning.

If you get yeast infections on a regular basis, I suggest getting to your primary doctor ASAP and getting checked out thyroid disease and diabetes. Frequent infections are signs of both of these diseases.
