what to do next?

Dr.
For the last couple of months - i have been suffering with quite a bit of vaginal discharge (heavy at times) and its a yellowish colour and smells sour....there are days when its less and days that its more - but overall this has been a consistent problem for me. I would say the last 8-10 months. I was prescribed heavy antic biotics...some say its bacterial vaginosis and some say it is normal. One doctor says to douche with apple vinegar and others says to leave it alone - it cleans itself. Nothing is helping and i am running out of options and patience.

Can you help?

I'm sorry you are going through this. I, too, have been dealing with the same thing for 15 months now. Which antibiotics have you been on and for how long? Any improvement at all with any of them?

What about tests done? Cultures sent out, or discharge looked at under microscope? What have doctors been telling you exactly?

I'll try and help you from my experience, but need a little more info.

Hi!
We could almost do a forum for discharge!  Your problem is (unfortunately) rather common.  I am beginning to wonder if there is an organism that we can't diagnose that is causing women to suffer so much!  There is something called biofilms that is a "new" form of bacteria that is being researched--it causes bladder infections that are resistant to antibiotics.  I am beginning to speculate that it might also be a cause of vaginal infections.  It might be worth while to have some cultures taken to see if there is one specific organism that stands out, and treat that--often beta strep is prevalent.
If you were my patient, I would also treat for yeast with Diflucan and probiotics.
If you do douche, don't do so more than once per month, and then only with water and vinegar.
There are some women on the net that say that the trichovax shot worked for them.
I don't know much about it (or even if it is available in the US ) but that is my only other thought.
Good luck!
