Would I be protected?

I started my new pack of Ortho TriCyclen this last Sunday. My boyfriend and I had sex on Sunday and he withdrew before ejaculation. On Tuesday this week I was taking the pill in my car and I don’t know if it went in my mouth or not. I am pretty sure it did but not 100%. Is there anything I can do that would be OK if I did or did not take the pill? Would I still be protected for last Sunday if I had missed the pill?

I think you have two alternatives and either would probably be just fine:

One--just keep on taking them as you normally would and it is unlikely that there will be any problems--you could use backup this cycle to be EXTRA certain.

Two--you could take an extra pill and end up you pack a day early this month.

The most important pills are the ones in the beginning of the pack. So ending a day early is not going to hurt anything.

Most of my patients would probably just blow it off and be just fine.

Good luck!

So I don't have to worry about not being protected for the Sunday sexual encounter, because sperm could live in my body for a while?

Thank you so much!
