Vaginal Discharge

I am currently 18 years old and I have had vaginal discharge since forever, even before I started my period, I know that discharge is normal, I had the normal clear occasional discharge, it then gradually turned into a more white/mucus like discharge, which I have also heard is normal. I dont know if this change has to do with me starting on birth control when I was 15ish or not. After this the discharge became more frequent and uncomfortable, I'd have to go to the washroom every halfhour to 'clean up'. My discharge then turned a light yellow. Now my discharge is a greenish yellow color and looks the same as boogers do. finally I went to a clinic to get it looked at as well as get a pap smear. Everything came back negative! but I know the discharge I am experiancing is not normal, because I've had normal discharge before years ago. I wasn't satified so I went back to the same clinic 2 months later and again all was negative. I went to a dr after starting college and they tested me for gonorrhea, clamidia, trichomoniasis, yeast infection, and two bacterial infections, again all negative.  I'ts really stressful and embarassing.. my boyfriend of 3 years is very supportive but It's hard because I am embarassed and dont want to have sex anymore because of this. I finally went to my family doctor and he did some cultures and tests, first they told me it was all negative, but then they called me back and gave me a prescription for a yeast infection, ive been tested for that 3 times and it was negative, but i tried the pills hoping they would work but nothing has changed!  also there is a slight smell to the discharge and it gets strong if i dnt change my underwear at least twice a day, or go the the washroom to 'clean up'. I'm past the embarassing stage, and I just want this to go away.. what can I do PLEASE HELP!!!!  I cant live with this any longer!!

I am on birth control.

I just don't understand why i'm getting this type of discharge when I've had normal discharge before.

Even though its light green and has a slight odor you think I've done all that i can do at this point?

Thanks,

Hi!
It sounds like you may be dealing with physiologic discharge.  This usually gets better with birth control pills though.  If all of the tests have been negative, antibiotics and anti-fungals will not help, and might make matters worse.  Interestingly, this problem seems to be more common in women who have been victims of sexual trauma.  One suggestion is to douche with only natural solutions and not more than once monthly,  Sometimes the cervix can be cauterized to slow down some of the discharge.  Often it is just something that you learn to live with.
Good luck!
