Progesterione is produced by the corpus luteum cyst that forms in the ovary after ovulation. Usually the levels are pretty low in the first half of the cycle, and higher in the second half. If you want to lower your level, one way to do that would be to prevent ovulation--the best way to do that is with oral contraceptive pills.

I was on oral contraceptive pills and i suspect that I still have high progesterone levels since I have many of the symptoms like hot flashes, excess thirst, excess perspiration. linea nigra, sore breasts, spots on skin, but the worst is the abdominal distention. My doctor says it could possible be high progesterone. I dont want to go back on the pill unless it will correct this. Any suggestions?
