Hi Doctor,
Almost seven weeks ago I had unprotected vaginal and oral sex with a CSW. The following weeks have been the most stressful in my life. Around ten days after the episode, I noticed white and red patches in my tongue, developed strong headaches, weird tingling sensations in my lower legs, little pains in my back and wrists, mouth ulcers etc. At five weeks and 4 days I got tested. The nurse didn’t say what kind of test they made, but the results say “Antibodies HIV1+HIV2 and Antingen P24(EIA) negative”. I was really surprised and relieved. The nurse, however, made an appointment to get tested at the three point mark. These are my questions:
1.From what I understand, this is a DUO test and , therefore, it is conclusive, am I right? No matter other details about the test, just knowing it test antibodies and antigen, it is conclusive post 28 days? Can I get on with my life?
2.I still have some strange symptoms. I have thrush, ( the doctor has given me MYCOSTATIN) ; two circular brown-purple lesions in the big toe of my feet around a callosity ; some temporal and mild pains in my fingers and what I think is a sensitivity for pain; itchy throat that makes me cough, sometimes badly, to clear it and a bit of chest pain when I breath. All these have me worried. I have in mind the possibility that I haven’t developed antibodies and I’m in the AIDS phase. I know it’s irrational, but it so strange to have all this; I can’t avoid thinking in kaposi’s sarcoma when I see the aforementioned lessions and in pneumonia when I breath. Anyway, that is impossible, isn’t it? Wouldn’t have I tested positive if I had any of this?
Thanks for the good work here.
