hiv, hepatitis b and c

i have posted about this before but i would like to make sure

i had unprotected sex with a street walker in singapore this time last year

and since then i have taken 3 acon biotech lateralflow hiv tests which i bought off the internet

one at 4 weeks, one at 12 weeks then one at 6 months

still not happy i looked again and bought a 4th test from a company called safescreen.co.uk

all the tests were negative and the steps followed down to the letter

all the control lines came up to show the tests were working but no tests lines appeared

do you think i should beleive these tests or what do you think i should do

as i said the last time you would hardly think they would make the tests if they were no good and i e-mailed a doctor in india and he says that they use both of these tests on a regular basis i just would feel better hearing from you.

as i live on an island there would be a lot of stigma attached to going to the doc about this.

i would also like to know what you think the chances of catching hepatitis b or c from this would be as i have got myself all worked up about that now

i really am in a bad place and dont know what to do about all this.

the only consolation i have is that i spoke to the girl after the event who was only 19 and she said she had nothing wrong with her.

hopefully she was telling the truth

kind regards

and i really would like to know about hepatitis b and c also

Hi Bobby

My last comment on this ok.

The further question about :-

so we were getting close and my penis was touching the outside of her underwear and then she told me she was on her period and she had hepatitis c at the same time

The answer is no. It does not pose a risk to you.

Best wishes, Sean

Hi Bobby,

Relax. You're fine.

Home testing kits are illegal currently in the UK because in the mid 90's the Government decided that it was too risky to allow them because they would upset people too much....They do seem to have upset you quite a bit.

I think it fair to say that:-

1) even though you had sex with a sex worker it is still (a) very unlikely that she would have had HIV and (b) even if she did it would be very unlikely that she would pass it to you with a single episode - the chances are 1 in 1200 or so.
2) that the HIV tests you had were very likely to be correct at least some of the time so highly likely that you did indeed get an accurate result

In addition, whilst there are some cases of sexual spread of Hepatitis C, these are limited almost exclusively to men who have sex with other men with particular sexual practices which are outside the scope of this answer. In addition, spread of hepatitis C in the absence of either pre-existing HIV or simultaneous transfer of HIV and hepatitis C is extremely rare.

I appreciate your concerns regarding Hepatitis C and also the reasons behind it but I am certain you will not be Hepatitis C positive as a result of this episode.

So, relax and keep cool. I think you are fine.

best wishes, Sean

i have just had another thought on the question above

around 5 years ago i had a girl at my house in the city and she was down to her underwear and i had nothing on

so we were getting close and my penis was touching the outside of her underwear and then she told me she was on her period and she had hepatitis c at the same time,

by this time i had already been kissing her everywhere and things like that

do you think there was any risk of transmissio from that episode??
