Am i at risk for herpes or other things?

Hi Dr, I went to get a massage recently.

About 20 mins in, the girl gave me a handjob, she put lubricant in her mouth and slowly spit it onto my genitals, spitting more lubricant every 30 seconds or so. The skin contact we had are:

1) handjob from her
2) she kissed and sucked my nipple
3) I fondled her breasts with my hands
4) Lubricant from her mouth onto my genitals

Based on this exposure, am I at risk for HIV or Herpes?? she did not have any visible sores or blisters on her hands or on her lips area, though I am not sure about inside her mouth. My main concern is that she held lubricant inside her mouth and slowly spit them on me. She had a mouthful of lubricant, and every 30 seconds she spitted it out onto me. Virus or bacteria could have been transferred from her mouth into the lubricant and then onto me since she had the lubricant in her mouth for total of 5 minutes, spitting them out every 30 seconds or so.

Final answer.  Further questions will be deleted without comment.

No, an infected hair follicle is NOT an open would.  My opinion still has not changed and will not.

The thread is now over.  EWH

Hi Dr, I had the bump checked out by a local dr, he said it was just an infected hair follicle. Anyway it got me thinking, if the infected hair follicle was there for some time, wouldn't it be considered an 'open wound' and thus if the girl that gave me a handjob had herpes whitlow on her hand or oral herpes, it would be transferred to me?

Is this a realistic cause for concern or  do you still stand by your very first opinion that there is no risk for me regarding herpes or STI?

I promise this would be the very very last comment I make. thank you

1.  that is correct however, if you had acquired herpes from the exposure you described you would have skin lesions.

2.  You asked my opinioon as a specialist in the area and received it.  If you wish to believe others who are not specialists, that is up to you.  You should be aware that if you look hard enough you can find someone who will tell you you are at risk.  That does not mean they are right. EWH

Hi Dr, I have 2 more questions, after this I will not reply or post any more questions about this case.

1) If blood tests are not reccomended and the most accurate way is through skin test, then if a person does not show symptoms but have herpes, wouldnt it mean he/she wont ever know?

2) In a fit of panic and anxiety, I posted my question to several other doctors, one of them is a local Dr living in my area, he is just a GP, not a specialist in STI. He says that there is a risk with my exposure, though he refuse to comment if it is a high or low risk, when asked if he knew anyone contracted herpes this way, he too refused to comment. Now I am confused.

Blood tests for herpes are not recommended,  If you wish to have the lesion you describe tested by culture or PCR, you could go for testing at this time.  EWH

THANK YOU DR FOR YOUR QUICK REPLY! It really calmed me down. However to be extra safe I would like to go for a Herpes test. How long after exposure should I be tested for accurate results?

OMG DR I AM FREAKING OUT! I just went to take a shower, I realise there is a small bump near the base of my penis! it is a small pearly bump, skin coloured though slightly red in the middle of the bump. It does not hurt or anything. I tried picking at it with a tweezer several times and it bled, no pus. What is this? maybe an ingrown? but I cant see any hair lining on it

Welcome back to our Forum.  Please do not worry. There is no realistic risk for HIV or any other STI from the exposure that you describe.  None at all.  That she held the lubricant in her mouth would not result in the transfer of bacteria or viruses to you.  Similarly, touching of the sort you describe is also a no risk event.

As for the bump you describe, your description in no way suggests any STI.  What you are seeing is most likely a skin cyst or folliculitis lesion.  It has likely ben there for some time and you have just noticed it.  Have your doctor take a look but please do not worry that it is an STI from the exposure you describe.
