I took my 87-94 day test give or take a few days.... Its negative! hope that this is conclusive... thanks again all who wrote to me and Dr. HHH thank you.
I found a similar case like me after so long, actually i had the same symtoms as u do. I even have these symtoms till now after 7 and half months after axposure. I tested after 1 ,2 ,3,5,7 months after exposure all came back negative.I had hep c and hep b test after 1 and 7 months all came back negative. So now i am finally out of it and i dont bother about my symtoms. I have the same hairy and white tongue after the incident and i had all the symtoms except fever. So ur case sounds exactly like mine and keep yourself cool .
worried,
Did you have weight loss as well?...I still have pain in my legs?
Dr. HHH,
If a person was exposed in a high risk situation would you still stick to your guns on the 8 week negative test or would your recomend something else....
thank you.
hi doc

n blood tests will be negative for antibodies, p24 n pcr
thnx
If you haven't been tested for STD's including HIV, then do so. While the tests for common STD's turn positive as soon as a few days after infection, you will need to wait at least 8 weeks for a solid answer to HIV.
" You didn't need hepatitis testing" - Does this statement apply assuming he has take hep-b shots in the past and is already immuned to it? It is my understanding that hep-b incubation period is between 45-180 days.
Also, it is my understanding that you do not need hep-c testing unless and until you had anal sex but hep-b is transmitted through vaginal intercourse.
Your HIV tests seem to have gotten you off the hook though(as better worded by skerd ;-)).
i had unsafe sex session between january and march of 2004, by june of same year, i had typhoid fever, initially i had the same typhoid earler in december of 2003. i was treated after a week at the hospital. towarrds the end of 2004 i had series of sex with my partner without condons, by the middle of 2005, i started experiencing ARS, one outstanding symptoms was swelling of lymph node around my groin, painless though and a hard one behind my neck. quiet recently, my partner tested positive to hiv, but i never had unprotected sex with this partner of mine except obviously oral sex, which he constantly perform on me, now am scared to go for a test. what do i do?
good one skerdstraght, lol.
dumbguy, you did not have ARS. your symptoms are because of your anxiety, not hiv.
Here are two brand NEW questions..ones that I have searched for extensively on this forum and which ARE, albeit conservatively, answered affirmatively on many other websites, including cdc.gov, and thebody.com
1) How about the absence of any ARS symptoms within the first two to six weeks? Is this possible for a STILL possible HIV Positivie case?
2) How about the absence of any ARS symptoms after the first 6 weeks to twelve weeks? Is there still a possibility for a HIV Positive case?
Of course, symptoms mean nothing and test results mean everything, I was wondering are there a good number of HIV + cases where there were no or few symptoms in the first six to twelve weeks and the test result was still positive?
Thanks,
-WorriedUS
Dr. HHH,
Thank you for your response I respect your opinion and pray your correct in my case. I am going to do a 12-13 week test post exposure just for peice of mind. Thank you to all who added comments very helpful....Thanks again DR. HHH
Yes, if your symptoms were due to HIV, the October HIV test would have been positive. The test negative result proves your symptoms were not due to HIV. Period, full stop. Symptoms never are a reliable indicator of ARS. A hundred other things, all more common than ARS, cause the identical symptoms--mostly garden variety, benign viral infections. And your symtoms aren't really typical of HIV anyway. (You don't mention fever, which probably means you didn't have an elevated temperature. By itself, that fact is strong evidence against ARS.)
Your doc is being too conservative, and probably is not up to date on modern HIV tests. A test 8 weeks after exposures is plenty; some experts say 3 months to be absolutely safe, but 4-6 weeks is definitely not necessary.
HIV test "generation" isn't an issue. Even the oldest test, not used for over 10-15 years, would be positive by 3 months. Every test currently in use almost always is positive by 6-8 weeks.
Good luck-- HHH, MD
You didn't need hepatitis testing. Yes, other STDs would have shown up by now. There is no test for HPV. Everybody gets HPV anyway, and you probably already have had it. We all have.
HHH, MD
your chick was a flop and your test is a lock. Your fine.
you've had more than enough testing and do not need to test further. your 8 week is conclusive, rest easy guy, it's all good!! go out and celebrate, you are healthy. as for the girl, I'm sorry, that sounds very deceitful.
even with all my symptoms? howacurate would the hep tests be at 5 to 6 weeks? would other stds have shown up by now? how about hpv? is there a test for that?
